Advanced notice for the loyal troops of the Support Forum:The FSX Basic Compatibility Update for 'Briefing Time' is now available on the MAAM-SIM Free Stuff Page. I'll be putting it up on the library tomorrow. As with the R4D patch, released earlier, this update primarily addresses changes in the panel configurations and gauges, as well as providing thumbnail pictures for the Select Aircraft Menu in FSX. Hey Mark;Oh yeah - I like it! I grew up in the late 40's and 50's; went into the RAF at 15 as a brat, and - like most of us in this hobby - have loved everything about flight since then. There's a magic about flying the warbirds of the 30' and '40's, Mark, whether radial or inline, American, British, German or Japanese, which puts one worlds away from that of the later jet or piston aircraft. To experience the awsome brute power of the RA Spitfire 14 after one breaks ground; the clatterings and rumblings of Cyclones or Wasps; the smooth deep growl of the DB 601, the whine of superchargers, the stark utility of matt black and zinc chromate, the "be on your toes" kind of flying - all this is found nowhere in the modern world - and with FS10 scenery being SUCH an improvement - particularly in this case with the 25, your KRDG and the city of Reading - for me, the immersion has ramped up a goodly number of notches. Reading looks very different in FS10 doesn't it?, and the 25 "feels" different, too. It's better, and once the quality addons begin to appear, SP1 happens and hardware goes down in price a tad I would think we'll eventually have a swing from FS9 over to 10. However it ends up - it wouldn't be complete without your most valuable contributions, and for those I thank you.Regards,pj

Yes, the trees in FS10 make a big difference, for a start... and although some ridicule it, I find the road traffic really adds to the immersion.Long live the Gooney (and 25, of course!)...There's life in FS9 yet...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169338.jpgBut FS10 has a certain magic, for sure...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169337.jpgMarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a]

I don't know if I'm just going nuts, but I could swear that the VC gauges on the B-25 move smoother in FSX than the R4D6 gauges do. Is there any reason for this, or is it just me going crazy?

Wright Cyclones are smoother than P & W's. . . . . . so less vibration. . . .:-beerchug

Actually, that is true in FS9, as well. It's because the DC-3 required more "ghost panels" in its VC than did the B-25 and that slows the refresh rate. Bill RambowMAAM-SIM http://www.fssupport.com/maam/hgrsm_blkani.gif
