October 14, 200718 yr Team , MAAM-SIMHow shall I download MAAM-SIN to FSX ?. I am having problems to make any changes in FSX Confg. files. It all ways ends up with more problems. Is there any step by step installation process or I should pay MAAN-SIM Dc-3 FSX download packages?ThanksSanal
October 15, 200718 yr You don't need to make any difficult changes, Sanal. If you have the FS2004 package, which I believe you do, then find the free update to FSX on this page:http://www.maam.org/flightsim/enhance/r4d_enhance.htmDownload it, and install the base pack and update after reading the instructions carefully. It's not complicated, but let us know if you have any further queries.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
October 15, 200718 yr Mark, I followed the instruction several times. At the end when I tried to install add-on r4dFSxul.exe, I am keep getting this msg: "Cannot install this program, either yo don't have the MAAM-SIM R4DCD installed or you failed to change the installation path to match your FSX directory".I several times changed the CD installation directory for Microsoft Flight Simulator X all went ok, but when I tried to add-on.Msg keep coming on.Can you advise me , I must doing some thing wrong.RegardsSanal
October 16, 200718 yr 'Cut' it out of the newly created 'aircraft' folder and 'paste' it into the 'Sim Objects/Airplanes folder and all will be revealed.;-) Dave Taylor
October 16, 200718 yr 'Cut' it out of the newly created 'aircraft' folder Where shall I find the "newly created "aircraft" folder in FSX directories??Thanks for your help.
October 17, 200718 yr Yes, this is one of the things that loading an aircraft that works in FSX as well as 2004 does. The installer cannot find an 'Aircraft' folder so, it creates one.Look into your files for FSX and you will see it. Just cut and paste it into the FSX 'Sim Objects/Airplanes' folder an d then you will see it in the selection within the game. Dave Taylor
October 17, 200718 yr I gave up. I did copy /pase into the FSX 'Sim Objects/Airplanes'. I tried to add-on FSX upgrade.I am keep getting the same MSG ."Cannot install this program, either you don't have the MAAM-SIM R4DCD installed or you failed to change the installation path to match your FSX directory".Problem is looks like with me . I Cantor manage the installation. If I purchased again the MAAS-SIM download will be easier for me to have FSX version???IF not I will stay with FS9. I can't do it..I spend three days, may be it was a very simple matter.
October 17, 200718 yr SanalBill Rambow is aware of your problems but is travelling at present. Don't go ordering any new download, we have you on our records as a bona fide purchaser so are confident of getting you sorted with FSX.Bill put together the installer for FSX so has offered to call you personally if you cannot get this fixed beforehand (we have your number, don't worry). So may I suggest that you go through the install process one more time carefully, reading the instructions provided in the FSX upgrade zip. If you follow these to the letter, all should be well, but don't panic if not. Bill will be in touch if you need him to be! Post again here if you need to talk...MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
October 18, 200718 yr Mark,Thank you. I really don't want waste your teams time. If Bill has a chance he can call me, may be we can do a "Net Meeting". Let me know.RegardsSanal
October 28, 200718 yr Not having bought this (from what it looks!) Magnificent add-on yet, I still dare to ask a small question.I own the Track-IR 4 Pro with Pro clip and simply hate flying in anything but a 3d Pit (VC in FSX).Does the patched MAAM-SIM DC-3 have a fully clickable VC for FSX ??
October 28, 200718 yr Hi MavAs you'll probably know, there are levels of what people interpret as "fully clickable" in FS.Even within our own product, with every release (e.g. the C-47 series) we have introduced new models which have more "clickability" (is that a word?) than the earlier, base R4D pack. We'd like to think that our VC remains streets ahead of much of the competition in terms of immersion and the "feel" of being on a real aircraft rather than flying in a cardboard cutout with untextured parts. But, that said, we have yet to give you clickable radios in VC, which are clearly pretty fundamental if you insist on only flying in VC without using popups at all.Personally, I tend to flip to 2D when wanting to change radio frequencies, as with addons such as Active Camera or TrackIR the slightest head latency makes it difficult to hit radio mousepoints successfully when they are jumping about on the screen; bearing in mind that most people hand fly the DC-3 (and should) as we're not talking automatic pilot control in an Airbus here. When flying multiplayer over at DC-3 Airways, we sometimes have up to 20 aircraft in the pattern for landing; chasing radios all over the screen while looking about and trying to maintain altitude, correct airspeed and position is a bit of a joke in any FS aircraft when hand flying. So there you have it. We WILL have clickable VC radios one day - and, indeed, my own "IFR" panel for FS9, using default radios, is clickable in VC; but to date, our overhead is not clickable in VC. Most everything else is.Hey, buy the package anyway. I promise you that you will not be disappointed! She flies beautifully, which is reward in itself. And I think there are more freeware add-ons for our base package than any other FS product I know of!http://www.maam.org/flightsim/enhance/r4d_enhance.htmMarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
October 31, 200718 yr SANAL,I would also suggest buying this package. I did not like it at first and was even considering asking for a refund. If you are very new to flight simming and have FSX I would strongly advise you not to buy this craft until later. This package is firmly rooted in MS2004 so there are a number of problems for those who are new to flight simulations or who like to fly VC hands on. Number one is that %3*^&@! yoke. It obscures several essential NAV gauges. At present there is no way to remove it as far as FSX is concerned. I have asked for help on this and no reply has been made. In it's present configuration, it just stinks for hands-on VC IFR approaches in typical Northwest USA weather (or any hands on VC use). Let me say that again..... it stinks. I have several items to help with the crafts problems, including the IR4 (which I feel is a great product and allows you to pan in panels you normally can't). After modifying the panel and VC gauge positions I began to enjoy flying the UAL bare metal more. THEN I discovered the RD-4 NATS and it is a beauty. I also feel flying (and landing) this a/c is a joy, but only after making my modifications. I am considering writing a review from a new simmers/FSX owners point of view to help other decide if its worth the trouble (and it was some trouble, hence, the refund consideration). At present MAAM offers little in the way of FSX enhancements or add ons for this craft. There are none that add to it's functions and capabilities.

November 1, 200718 yr Just an update on my comments. I checked the MAAM site and saw a number of panel some may find useful plus a large number of repaints. None though help with the Yoke problem. The only one that would have been useful would have been the DC3 airways panel but its not meant to be used by the RD4 and that is my preferred Aircraft.

Let me say that again..... it stinks.Well, sir, for a newcomer to our forum, you've certainly created a bad smell around here! :)If you have asked for help on your yoke issue - which post I cannot trace, but I/we may well have missed it - apologies. The latest FREEWARE add-ons to our DC-3 product, which are not released yet, have removable VC yokes which can be clicked on and off, rather than the full and medium versions as originally released. However, these are not retrofitted to the original aircraft (i.e. R4D-6, UAL, BEA) and it is unlikely that they will be for FS9 at this stage.I myself have not yet fully tested these newer models in FSX - certainly not with the dreaded Acceleration, which yet again has moved the goalposts significantly for developers - but am doing so. When this work is completed, I'll let you know whether these models will give you what you need in FSX. >I am considering writing a review from a new simmers/FSX owners>point of view to help other decide if its worth the trouble>(and it was some trouble, hence, the refund consideration). At>present MAAM offers little in the way of FSX enhancements or>add ons for this craft. There are none that add to it's>functions and capabilities.I'm sure we'll all be interested in your review. Perhaps we'll know your name at that point - do let us have it, as we like to be on first name terms around here. I am sure that if you wish to return your purchase to MAAM-SIM and delete our software from your system, Bill Rambow will be happy to refund you; but you, and most importantly others reading your posts, should understand that these aircraft were not developed for FSX. Our upgrades to FSX, to date, have been offered as a courtesy, for free, to existing users who have been pleased with our aircraft in FS9; we know, and have made clear, that there are shortcomings still in FSX (Acceleration has worsened these and introduced new ones) and, in time, there is a will to develop an entirely new model series for the new sim. Or the next one, perhaps :)So there you have it. I hope I am clear that these aircraft were developed for FS9, and that their operation in FSX is a work in progress. Most who know us well know that, and if you have been led to believe otherwise, then you'd better start packing up that disk and hitting the delete button, I guess! But we'd rather have you as one of us; I'd just be disappointed if you started "writing reviews" that were not properly researched.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
