Hey guysi want to upgrade my computer to a faster one...my pc is a 2.26MHz with 768RAM, and i want to get a new video card...now which one should i get so that i would get a good FPS (espc. with the new NL2000 scenery out)i thought of a 'Creative Radeon 9600 256 mb'would this be a good choice? i want to have one around 300$ not mutch more, anyone got suggestions?let me know asap please! cheersNick

You can get a 9700 Pro for pretty cheap nowadays, and it still stomps on a lot of the newer cards out there.

NickThe Radeon 9800 Pro 128 is a lot better than the 9600 Pro 256 (I have both) and can be bought in the U.S. for just over $200 from newegg.com. Of course I have no idea what it would cost if ordered from Singapore. Be careful not to get the 9800 SE which is not very good. I've seen this advertised in such a way that at first glance you could mistake it for the 9800 NP. Hope this helps.David

With the ATI cards, steer clear of the 256MB offerings. You'll find that the ones with 256MB have slower memory clock speeds, and the performance suffers greatly. The 9800 Pro is an excellent performance/price ratio card that falls into your price bracket. Head to http://www.pricewatch.com to troll for the best prices on this stuff, but be careful that you are getting what you're looking for. P.

I agree, pricewatch is a good place to find low prices. From there I go to www.resellerratings.com to check on the dealers listed at pricewatch. Often spending a few extra $$ can save you a whole lot of headaches and be cheaper in the long run.David

That's a very good card. Go ahead and buy it unless you want to wait for the next-generation cards being announced in a few weeks, or the price-drop of current cards that will probably follow :)
