April 17, 200422 yr No recent discussion regarding this was found :)I have:AMD 2700+Radeon 9600 ProGeForce 4 MX420512mb DDR400Win XP I've tried ASUS A7N8X-X before but hated the BIOS/POST (frequent booting error and noted on many other forums). It's unstable. I now have Gigabyte GA-7S748 but my dx9 games cause the computer to crash/restart (BSOD with no text). So.. please help me find a new board! :)
April 18, 200422 yr Your problem may not be the board at all. I have a board very similar to yours - ASUS A7N8XE-DELUXE and had serious FS2004 lockups until I traced the problem to my memory timings. The problem obviously occurs with certain motherboard models. See my posting (search for username Byrna) with subject line "FS2004 crashes fixed by memory timings".Did you recently upgrade your memory? Are you modules a matched kit or just two OEM's slapped together? What are your latency settings for the RAM in your BIOS? April 18, 200422 yr Yes, I had that precise ASUS board and the memory problem was quite common according to my finding. I don't remember what my setup was because I'm not running it anymore but I was using Kingston 512mb DDR400.
April 18, 200422 yr Hi Par,Is this what you're recommending? http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-127-166&depa=0Looks good to me :)
April 19, 200422 yr Yup that is the one I got. Cheap with a lot of features and as overclockable as the expensive DFI Lanparty 2 generally. Though I was a bit unlucky with my 2500+ I think. Can
April 19, 200422 yr Maybe this is a stupid recommendation, but try P4 :) P4C800 or P4P800... Mine runs very very stable.
April 21, 200422 yr Just got the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe/ Athlon 3000 - so far no real problems except the "talking Lady"(those with this board will no what I mean) who tells me " CPU fan failed" everytime I start up. I have to say I'm impressed with it so far - FPS almost double my old K7S5A/XP2000- EG: on the runway at KSEA with everything just about maxed (except AI traffic) averaging 28fps peaks at 35.I suspect the fan failed problem may be that I have picked the wrong fan header-does anyone know which is the correct one for the CPU fan?Dave
April 22, 200422 yr Here is a great A7N8X site, I also own the Delux version, with no issues. http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/viewforum....aaf2ffd99f5cbe6
April 23, 200422 yr Further info re my previous post in this thread for any other A7N8X E deluxe users- the "CPU fan fail" message is caused by the fact that the sensor doesn't kick in until the fan reaches 2000rpm - which it may not need to be doing at a cold start. Still impressed with this moboDave

April 30, 200422 yr I am replacing my Abit NF7-S 2.0 against a DFI nforce 2 ULTRA LANPARTY rev B.Will tell you all how it works out. Got a bit of expansion problems with my NF7-S rev 2.00 since it only have 2 USB on the back panel and I have a lot of USB devices and need the PCI slots for just that PCI cards and a slot cooler. That the inbuilt NIC died on it didn
