How to make Hyperthreading affinity permanent

Featured Replies

If you have a p4 with hyperthreading and want to set your processor affinity to 0 permanently. (Ie. if you have the Flight1 Meridian), go here to find out how.http://robpol86.com/tutorials/imagecfg.phpSel ..............

Sel,(1) I have seen this article. I have been trying to find out where the SYSTEM processes whose affinity cannot be changed (at least with the Set Affinity command in Task Manager) normally run (i.e. 0 or 1)so I can set FS9 to the other processor. It looks to me like they may run on zero. I've been setting FS9 to processor 1 and FS Meteo, Explorer.exe, etc. to zero. Seems to definitely smooth out major stutters I used to get when FS Meteo updates weather station settings.(2) I don't have the Flight1 Meridian. Do they actually suggest using hyperhreading? Does it make a noticeable difference? Thanks,Steve

I tried turning hyperthreading off in the bios but the CPU ran much hotter and programs like Photoshop did not run as well. Before getting the Meridian I never had any problems and did not bother changing affinity at all.Sel ......................

I just wanted to say thanks for the tip. It sure makes setting up a flight a lot faster.
