April 28, 200422 yr I just bought this controller tonite & am very happy with it. It's made my flights much more stable & enjoyable.I haven't played with the profiler yet thinking I could do all my programming right in FS9. I've been able to do everything i wanted to with it thus far except for 1.I'd like to be able to use Rotary 1 as my elevator trim but FS9 doesn't seem to recognize it. I can program buttons to do it but not Rotary 1. I went into "Joystick axis" and found the right spot, FS9 ses that's what I want to use for ele trim but it doesn't work for me.I was able to assign rotary 2 as my prop pitch & that has worked with no problem. Rotary 1 does work properly in the cal mode so it isn't a bad pot.Any ideas?TIA!Jim
April 28, 200422 yr Jim,I have the X36 which is virtually the same as the X45 and do have a rotary programmed for the elevator trim.Without opening the Saitek s/ware I'm not sure which is rotary 1 and 2 but I have the smaller knob for elevator trim.If you are not sure if the rotary is working go to the windows joystick calibration window and move the relevant knob, you should see the bar moving.I am almost certain you will see that.I am also almost certain I know what your problem is, low sensitivity for the axis in FS9.Before you assign the rotary axis to the stick make sure the elevator trim axis sensitivity is set to maximum. Then go to the axis assignments, select elevator trim and move the stick rotary through full travel, FS should pick up rotary.I think I had to reverse the axis direction but you can easily tell that if you do it with the default Cessna. Just move the rotary one way and see which way the trim wheel moves.HTH
April 28, 200422 yr Author Thank you Vulcan.I did not move the rotary through it's full range when setting it up, just enough that FS seen it & assigned Rotary 1 to elevator trim. Going through the full range & setting the trim sensitivity makes sense.I will try this out tonite.Jim
