May 6, 200422 yr I've been debating whether or not I should just go ahead and update my flight control. I have a VERY old CH Flight Sim Yoke and CH Pro Pedals, both non-USB, that are at least 6 years old now. It's been partially broken for at least three years (if you turn it too far left and then back to the right, there's a distinctive spring popping noise), and lately it's gotten to where it's very sensitive... just nudging the thing forward past the null zone and it takes to pitching wildly.I've considered replacing it with a joystick, since that seems to be where some aircraft are going, the Cirrus SR-20/22 (waiting impatiently for FFS), Airbus, etc. Not to mention with that I could have a more realistic combat flight sim experience when I just want to blow stuff up. Maybe a Saitek Cyborg Evo and a new set of USB rudder pedals are all I need to get for now. That would be significantly cheaper than upgrading both the Flight Sim Yoke AND Rudder Pedals. Thanks in advance for any thoughts...Kenneth
May 6, 200422 yr I have an older version - Saitek Cyborg 3D USB. This is a phenomenal stick. What I like about it that other joysticks don't have:1. long-thow throttle for precise control2. it is left and right handed (easily reconfigurable with a wrench). When flying a civilian aircraft I want to have stick in my left hand and throttle in the right hand - for better realism.Besides it is very well made (trouble free operation for 4 years). They have now Cyborg 3D Gold which is the same thing. I don't know about the 'Evo' - on the picture I did not see any throttle so it may be something small - definitely not what you want.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
May 6, 200422 yr I was under the impression that gameport rudders would not work with a USB joystick/flight yoke? The trick is that I need an affordable replacement for my aging and decrepid Flight Sim Yoke and Rudder Pedals now, and I don't have a tremendous budget. The reviews I've read say that the Evo has a throttle lever, if a tad difficult to reach. The only joystick that I've seen come close is the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, and I'm shying away from that for its continued reports of failing or near-failing after just a month of use. That way, I could later add USB pedals, which I can get with IL2 for $109 (question, could I use the Saitek or another joystick with USB CH Pro Pedals USB?). And, if I wanted to replace the joystick at an even later date, I could do that and have a fully USB setup.

May 7, 200422 yr Yes you can use game port rudder pedals with the CH yoke. I am using this setup without any problem. You have to hook up a joystick to the Y connector on the rudder pedals. Make sure when you set it up you check the rudder box in the setup screen. After setup I go into FS9 and disable all axis on the unused joystick. Works perfect.Chuck
