June 3, 200422 yr Hi guys Anybody using this joystick and throttle combo is it any good, will it work in combo with the usb ch pro peddals, and how easy is it to program is it like ch speed keys? Thanks for any info Dave.
June 3, 200422 yr I'm using the Saitek X-45. I have had it for a couple of months. Not to hard to program. Seems to work good. Had a logitech wingman before. Can't answer your question on rudder pedals except to say according to Saitech Web site, they claim you can, but they must be usb. Also be advised that as of this date, I have not been able to register my X-45 on Saitech web site, they claim some type of temporary problem :) The stick seems far ahead of the Logitech Wingman Check out their Web site.
June 5, 200422 yr I have used the X36 (X45 replaced it) and CHPro pedals for a few years now without any problems. Both the pedals and the X36 are only 'programeed' through FS assignments as I do not find a need for more button functions. I therefore do not use the Saitek nor the CH programming software. However the Saitek software is reasonable easy to use once you have learnt the basics, it may be worthwhile visiting the Saitek web site and looking at any FS profiles posted there to see how others have programmed their X45's.One word of caution when using the X45 and pedals: make sure you assign the rudder axis to the pedals and not to the X45 rudder control as well otherwise you will have problems.HTH
June 7, 200421 yr I have "programmed" the Saitek 45 only in the controller menu of FS2004 and it works quite well. Only one question: what could elevation axis probably mean in the axis menu. I hoped to assign the pitch trim to one of the rotary wheels, but to no effect. Personnally I don't like the usual incremental trimming and I got lots of wheels on this joystick, so why not? Herrie
June 7, 200421 yr Can't find an 'elevation' axis Herrie, only 'elevator' and 'elevator trim'.Elevator axis is, of course, pitch axis which is set to the stick's Y axis.Elevator trim can be set to a rotary, I have mine set to rotary 2. Make sure the elevator trim axis sensitivity is set all the way to the right and it will work.HTH
June 8, 200421 yr The rotary controls are my favorite feature of the X-45. Since I fly mostly pistons and turboprops, I have them assigned to mixture and prop RPM. Works like a charm.
June 11, 200421 yr >The rotary controls are my favorite feature of the X-45. >Since I fly mostly pistons and turboprops, I have them>assigned to mixture and prop RPM. Works like a charm.I to fly mostly piston and turbo props, but have not been able to get the rotary controls to work properly. Would it be possible for anyone to send me their profile for FS2002 or FS2004. I would like to find out what I'm doing wrong, and I'm sure it's my mistake.:)
June 11, 200421 yr I didn't have to create a profile, I just made the assignments within FS2004.I'm not at my home machine now to confirm this, but as I recall, the rotary controls are assigned as axes and not button assignments. It's been so long since I programmed the joystick though, I'll check that when I get home.
