July 20, 200421 yr I have downloaded and installed it....The jury is still out. I have noted a decrease in FPS. I'll have to tweak to judge fairly.....Paul
July 20, 200421 yr Depending on what you had in before you might need to uninstall the old ones and run Driver Cleaner. This is CERTAINLY the only way to get a clean install if you were running 5x.xx series drivers before. Also, if you have any trouble installing these (the Nvidia installer doesn't always actually install the drivers first time out, forcing two or three reboots before you get these in), you get a clean install by using Safe Mode and updating from Device Manager.Allcott
July 21, 200421 yr I went back to my old drivers(61.72). Yes, I did remove all traces of the past prior to installing 61.76, however, the new ones slowed everything down. So now the PC is back to normal and the FPS's are back to what they were, before today. I guess I'll wait and see what happens............................Paul
July 21, 200421 yr I was running 61.40 before, got these ones and they seem to be about the same for FPS, but I have increase in smoothness, however I saw large improvement in GTA: Vice City
July 23, 200421 yr Completely at odds with Paul's report - changing from 61.72 to 61.76 here gave a (small) increase in FPS with no , so far, discernable losses in anything else. It is always difficult to say as so often when drivers are changed ,the differences are so small. Also- often the improvements(or otherwise) are not just fps or anything that you can easily measure. Just for comparison (for what it's worth) ....Using Default C172 ,2D cockpit ,daytime, fair skies sitting on Threshold 08 at my local airfield (Bournemouth EGHH) no added scenery gave these FPS...........61.72 ...Low 36.0 Average 43.2 High 48.061.76 ...Low 38.8 average 45.1 High 50.1 One effect I have noticed is that FPS are significantly higher if AA is application controlled- switching to AA 2X on the Ti4200 produced an( approx) 5% dropDaveKT6V-LSR/xp3000/768MB DDRAM/Ti4200- nothing overclocked. Two Monitors both at 1024/768. FS9 set to 1024x768x32. Everything maxed for the test(except no AI- don't use it) and Frame rate unlocked
