July 24, 200421 yr What's the best rudder pedals for FS2204? The picture of the CH Pro pedals makes me think they would not be the best. Real airplane rudder pedals, it seems to me, are operated with your toes, with you heels on the floor. This allows better control when making small rudder inputs. The CH Pro pedals are made so that you have to put your whole entire foot on the things, which would make it difficult to input small amounts of rudder. But I could be wrong! Anybody have those pedals and are they any good?
July 24, 200421 yr Rudder pedals are not like gas and brake pedals in cars. Rudder pedals do indeed require that the leg move, thus the foot "pocket" built into many rudder pedal designs. So the CH's are anotomically correct.I own Elites (to go with my Cougar) but I've flown the CH pedals numerous times. They offer great features and performance for the cost, with the bonus of offering differential braking (applying one brake at a time... the preferred method of turning while taxiing aircraft--- like the Cub--- not equipped with nose or tail steering).Keep in mind that diff braking is only possible in sims that support that feature (MSFS, WWII Online are a couple that come to mind).Hope this helps,Greg
July 25, 200421 yr Thanks Greg. The pictures of the CH pedals just "look" like they would be difficult to use precisely. I'm looking for people to tell me they work fine, or not, before I drop the 100 or so bucks for them. Your point about the difference between rudder pedals and automobile gas & brake pedals is a good one. Are the "Elite" pedals better? I'll do a google search on them. Thanks!
July 25, 200421 yr "Are the "Elite" pedals better?"I wouldn't say so. The reason I use them is that they are gameport and plug into my Cougar. Windows then sees only one controller The Cougar) that has rudder pedals. So I have only one USB device for my flying. The one thing I like about the Elites is that they are wider (the distance between the pedals) than the CH's. For me the CH pedals are too narrow. But that's simply a matter of taste, and I'm sure I'd get use to the CH pedals if I used them for any length of time. The CH are really very nice for their cost. You can't go wrong with them.Greg
July 28, 200421 yr I have them. They work good. Although, took me over an hour last night to get the damn things calibrated. I would try to yaw around, and i would sit there and do 360's in place without touching the pedals. Then I would try to take off, apply a little right rudder during the TO roll, it would go right, then hard left. Just a headache to get the things calibrated.Maybe someone else who has them can explain what needs to be done so they work a little better.
July 29, 200421 yr I've got them and they're fine.Rather than putting my entire foot on the pedals, I rest my heels on the surface and only put my toes on the pedals...Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
July 30, 200421 yr In flying a real airplane, I put my whole foot on the pedals during take offs and landings.... times when I might need to use the brakes. Once I'm airborn, I almost always drop my heels to the floor and use them more like a car's pedals.Either way... I'm going to get myself the CH pedals soon to go with my yoke.

July 31, 200421 yr I have had CH USB Pedals for more than four years now. Some calibration and behaviour problems in the early days of windows XP, but all have been resolved with the latest CH driver. I've actually had two hardware failures, with wires breaking due to regular movement, but fortunately my handiness with a soldering iron fixed those two events (BEWARE pulling these pedals apart - they are literally spring loaded and need careful reassembly). I'd say these events are by far an exception rather than the rule.Overall, I am very satisfied with my Pedal / Yoke combination and if any of it broke permanently, I wouldn't hestitate in repurchasing.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
