Problem with Gameport CH Pro Pedals and USB adaptor

Featured Replies

Does anyone out there still use a USB adapter to connect a gameport device into a USB port? I have had one for a while now, but recently have started having some problems with it. Basically what happens is that sometimes, usually within a few minutes of starting flightsim, my rudder control will simply stop, and the rudder will just go full left. This has a nasty tendancy to happen right around the time I am starting takeoff, and usually puts me in the grass. Usually, all I do is unplug the thing and reconnect it (thank goodness for usb), and once it reconnects I am back up and running again (and it rarely happens again during the flight). The weird thing is it only happens near the start of a flight, and maybe only 30% of the time. I have been using the same setup since fs2004 came out, but the problem has started recently. Anyone out there had a similar problem? The solution might just be to go out and buy new USB pedals, but I still haven't decided if this problem is annoying enough to warrant spending the money.

Hi.I use that setup and have no problems. I also use it to get Toe (diff.) brakes. Try to see if another axis is assigned to your rudder, from the other stick, twist stick? Also check your Realities settings, turn them all down / off. Make sure your Null zone is about 30%. Post here for more info. TV

Craig,I have a similar problem, except I am running straight USB.May be coincidental, but it started right after installing FS 2k4.Also, I am beginning to think maybe something is inherently wrong with the rudder pedals themselves as I since tried them on my other computer with the same result, except mine locks to the right.I have benn going 'round and 'round with CH since mid-July trying to resolve the situation. If anyone out there has any ideas......I'm sure both Craig and my self would be highly appreciative.....

Thanks for that, you talked me out of buying new USB pedals. If the problem still happens with those as well, there is no point. I was kind of leaning towards keeping the old ones anyway. I can't find any configuration problem with the pedals. I have all other joystick axis either assigned to something else, or disabled. It is just like someone reached back and pulled out the cord. The strange thing is I pull out the USB cable and plug it back in, and the pedals come right back and are fine for the rest of the flight. At least for me. Does your problem go away if you unplug and reconnect them as well?Oddly enough I never had any problems back when I had them hooked up to a regular gameport. I don't remember when I got them, but I know I have had them since at least my fs2000 days, and maybe even before that.

I just had to buy an adapter at radio shack the other day to use my old 15 pin stick with the "USB only" MB I just got...Was 18 bucks...Is that what you are referring to? So far, mine has worked fine...Knock on wood..MK
