CH Pro Pedals USB setup

Featured Replies

Hi all,I've looked around on the Internet a little and also searched the forums and found some information on how to best set up my CH Products Pro Pedals USB, but wanted to look for a little more advice.I have tried using fsuipc, CH Control Manager and nothing but the FS interface and still get differential braking when I press back on the toe brakes (not forward, but press backwards on the heel). Are the CH Pro Pedals just very sensitive? I suppose I am looking for pointers and advice in setting these up. I have my MS FF Sidewinder Pro set up the way I like it (from FS2000 through FS2004), but am finding the CH Pro Pedals USB to be more challenging.

Just plug the pedals in directly. Click the "Reset Defaults" button for them. Find the Control Assignments dialog and make sure the "Reversed" boxes are checked for the toe brakes. Next, find the Sensitivity and Null Zones dialog. Set it for the Advanced settings so you can set the brakes and rudder independently, then push the Null Zone sliders all the way to the left. Get back out to the main screen and quit FS so the settings get saved. After that restart FS and see if they brakes are working. The deadzone apparently works backwards, probably because of the reversed checkbox. Anyway, it works for me and leaves me with about 1/3rd of brake pedal travel before the brakes start to engage. Once they're working, you can sneak the Null Zone sliders back to the right a little at a time to get the sensitivity you want. One note - when you first come out of the settings screens, the brakes are likely to be on. Tap the pedals once and it will usually clear it. It's just that they're zeroed and FS doesn't update the brakes until it sees a report, which doesn't happen until the pedals move.Hope this helps!- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com

Thanks,I also notice that pressing down with your heels creates an input value. Most of my setup problems are related to this. I've got it going okay with FS2004 and FSUIPC now, but the fact that some odd value is registered when pressing the heels down messes things up and makes for finicky differential brake readings.
