Fs 9 lock ups please help....!

Featured Replies

Hello I have a brand new system which is this set up--->amd 64 bit 3400 1mb cache1024 mb of ddr 40036 gig hard drive at 10,000 rpm satamsi 6800 gt 256mbaudigy2 sound card (with onboard sound turned off in bios.)All hardware is new and the cpu and processor have even been replaced with new ones. The only things on this hard drive windows xp, FS9,and HALO(which I installed to see if another 3d game would work which it ran fine)I am not hooking this computer to the internet at all.No service updates have been installed although the other microsoft game halo works fine.My problem is when I run fs9 my system locks up with nosies from the sim only coming out which are very distorted .When it does lock up I can not even get out of the lock up with control alt delete or the reset button I have to totally unplug the system. I tried another game halo and it works fine no lock ups even after 30 minutes of game play. Please help this has been so frustrating I have had this system for over a month but still can not use it with fs9.

Sounds like your problem is heat. To test, remove the left side cover and blow air into the system using an ordinary house fan. Then go fly and see what happens.Cheers,Greg

Well I check the temp in bois and called amd they said it is fine.I have a 420 watt power supply I forgot to mendtion.

What Ampere on the 12V line do your PSU deliver. Otherwise it sounds like a heat issueTried to mail this to you :)Hi! I have a Shuttle AN50R rev 1.3 what problems do you got? FS9 is very demanding so if you lock up only in this game have you tried running prime95 or superpi to check if your computer is stable? Otherwise if you fly for a while it can be your system overheating. But try Prime95 and blend torture test. Let it run for 12 hours or something. It can of course crash earlier than you know it

Thank you so much for your reply . The ampere on the 12v line is 13amps.The mother board I have is the ecs 755-a2 . I also have found out it locks up in other games as well. I have put a house fan very close to the unit and still locks up even after sitting for several hrs of not in use under very cool conditions. The sim will lock up right away within the first 5 secs or less it all varies never happends within the same time or place in the sim..I also installed all windows service packs .I have run direct x tested which all tests show good and passed.I have run the sim just straight with no addons just default everything still locks up.I have direct x 9b installed. I have ran it with sound in the sim turned off and sometimes it helps to get longer flights sometimes it doesnt but as soon as I turn sound back on it locks up right away. The cpu temp is at about 36c or less even after a hard crash.I have checked the video card on another system works fine. I have checked the ddr ram on another system works fine.I have the lastest nvidia drivers 61.77 I have ran it with just on board sound still locks up.I have ran it with onboard sound shut off and the audigy2 as the sound card and it still locks up. I have formatted and installed very single software driver.I have checked the hardrive on another system works fine. The only thing that does feel hot is the heat sink on the motherboard which is new and even was replaced.please any Idea will help!

Okay I think your problem has been found. 13A on the 12 V line is really to weak for an A64 system. PSU Manufacturers like to pull out big wattage claims to appear high quality. You will be much better off with a 350 W PSU for example with 18A at least on the 12 V line the more the better really. So I would guess it

I spoke to AMD tech they said the power supply is good and that the CPU runs off of the +3.3v side not the +12v side of the PSU.On the +3.3v side its has 26 ampre which to AMD is good. The +5v side has 32 ampre which is also good .My power supply is a ATX power supply.I am going to test each stick of ram in different slots on the motherboard hope that helps if not I am sending the CPU back in for testing which this is the second chip I have had this same problem with .The other CPU was checked by AMD and was found as bad.I am also going to install a brand new motherboard from another company if I have to inorder to fix this ongoing frustrating problem. Also I ran that program prime 95 and durning the very first test the system locked up...

Well thanks for all your help ..I found the problem after another format and new install once again..I found that even though the ram showed good in the test and in windows and in bois for some reason it was failing after putting each stick in one at a time and moving them around I found it a bad stick of memory.AMD told me to look at this and said even if the shows as good it still maybe the problem something to do with a even a small voltage differance that is more creditcle on some motherboards .I even installed another stick with the good stick and it ran fine .So there you have it one stick causing crazy problems.....

Aah great to hear you find the problem :). Have you tried them with memtest86? I know since A64 have an integrated memory controller sometimes it has trouble with some memory brands and specific models. But there have been numerous revisions of the A64 to remedy that problem make them more compatible though. Some memory still hates A64 though.

Otherwise every single person I talk with says it draws power from the 12V line and ev the onboard memory controller on the A64 draws power on the 3.3 V line so it may be a combination. And everyone agrees on that your PSU is absurdely weak :(. But try each RAM one at a time with memtest86 if they do that with no errors I would highly doubt they are faulty. At worst as said a compability issue then.

Hi again! Now I have cleared this up.the A64 uses the 3.3V line for the integrated memory controller and 12 V line for the rest so it

I see what you are saying. I really stressed to AMD my PSU specs when I was on the phone with them and they acted as if there was no problem with my power supplied by the PSU. I have ran my sim now for several hrs with everything maxed and with addons added not using the bad ram I have not had one lock up. I have also spoke with a video card manufacture(leadtech) and the main thing they said in order to have the correct PSU for a computer you need to figure the total watts of a system then use a PSU 20% greater then the total watts of the system.

Yes but then that isn
