November 23, 200421 yr Well, I never swapped out my Ti4600 card for what I thought I was gonna get: an MSI GeForceFX 5900XT. I wasn't sure about the real difference and whether it would be significant for FS2004. I don't have the $$ for a real heavy video card and it has to fit my DELL 8200 system without any other hardware upgrade. I did think about a 5900 Ultra, but shockingly it's about $400. I don't want to spend over $200 incl. S&H. (The really good cards are always about $400 to $500, aren't they?)When I went from my STB 16MB to ELSA 32MB card, it was a massive difference (5 years ago) and I never looked back. But it doesn't seem from reading reports and reviews that I'll have a similarly big improvement between my Ti4600 and an FX5900XT. Can anybody reconfirm for me that it really IS worth upgrading to this and assist me in making a decision ?Thanks!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 23, 200421 yr If I were you and limited to Nvidia cards only (it sounds from your post) I would not upgrade to anything less than 6800GT since all Nvidia cards prior to that had problems handling AA with clouds in FS. 6800GT will be definitely more than $200 but not necessarily in the $400-500 range though you have to check it. But I don't know Dell and whether your 8200 has enough power to drive such recent card as 6800GT.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
