Ati X800 Driver question

Featured Replies

Hi All!Okay, I've got another silly question. I'm still using the old driver for my ATI X800 pro. It's version 4.8. When I updated this driver, it gave me a new ATI control panel but I can't seem to change any settings like Anti Aliasing or Anisotropic filter. Right now I run mine at 6X and 16X with full traffic, real weather and max detail on everything including clouds. I get great frames at airports with it dipping to about 15fps. Once up in the air, it can go as high as 120fps, depending on the weather. The question is should I change drivers and why can't I change the settings after I change. It seam that all they've done is reworked the control center to add skins! who cares! (sorry). I'm sure they have done more but really, what do skins have to do with your settings, Your not in there long enough to care. It just takes up resources.ps. Thanks to Alex, I finally have my yoke working again! It was so simple. Now I just need to figure out how to assign the third axis to reverse engines.ThanksHuggsKittiex:)~ This system is: AMD 64 3500+ 939 ASUS A8V Deluxe with wifi GCorsair TwinX1024 3200 XL Pro 2 36gig W.D. There are two versions of the driver package. One with the new control panel and one(the smaller package) with the old. Current version is 4.12, and especially owners of the newer card can benefit from the update.-

For the Driver, under the ATI 3D tab in the card settings you will see a button CUSTOM if you press that it will give you the option to control AA and Aniso... It drove me nuts too.For the Reverser control if you have a registered version of FSUIPC you can set a value in the FSUIPC.ini to assign another axis (example prop pitch) to operate the reverser, it is in the FSUIPC adv users guide. Believe the entry in the ini file is ReverserSetConrtol= .Good Luck

You can download either the drivers with the Catalyst Control Center or without. I have basically the same system as yours with the ATI Radeon X800 XT video card. I do not get the high frame rates as you do but have all my settings within FS2K4 set to the max. Just remember to uninstall the old drivers first before installing the new drivers. Doubt upgrading your video card drivers will be of any benefit to you since you already receive outstanding frames. Hope this helps!Jim

regarding uninstalling old ati drivers - is add/remove sufficient or is further registry cleaning required? ati releases a new catalyst set so frequently! regards,Mark

Guys - seriously, use the Omega drivers - www.omegadrivers.netNo BS Catalyst Control Center app and tweaked for max performance and quality.
