December 30, 200421 yr Because I'm not ONLY playing Flight Simulator on my PC! LOL...Dude, I'm doing music on the PC with DirectX plugins and let me just tell you one thing about Athlon vs. Intel:Project in Cubase SX2 with Waves DX plugins:Athlon 3200+ around 95-100% CPUSame project loaded on my system as in specs down, around 50%So tell me my friend, why take Athlon?
December 30, 200421 yr Because I am only gaming and watch DVD:s and browse internet. If I would be doing music I would get a second PC to have the best of two worlds ;)Intel is having the benefit of having programmes optimized around their CPU:s in the past which explains some of the performance difference. So yeah if I would do video encoding or such P 4 is a bit better. Now A64 is a lot better because of their memory bandwidth which was less than optimal on the old Athlons generation too.But I would have one computer with P 4 and tons of RAM if I was editing music and the other one for gaming.

As of just coming from a P4, yes they run higher speeds, but this 64bit amd turns around and bites them in the a$$. This is a great processor, and it is one to be looked at real hard when looking at a new system, onlything i plan to do is upgrade ram and vid card. Chase Barnett
