Wiindows XP SP2 update for ATI-9800 Pro

Featured Replies

I am running XP Home, SP2; and have an ATI 9800 Pro video card running Omega drivers. I note that I have notification of an XP update that simply says "ATI 9800 Pro". Is this something that will end up re-installing drivers over those that I currently have, or is this some other enhancement that I should get that will make the card run better? Thanks for any help,Bruce.

Don't let that update happen! For some unknown reason my windows updates got changed to automatic, and were grayed out not allowing me to change the settings even though I am the administrator. I was unaware of this, so the 9800 pro update was downloaded and installed. What it did was install an out dated signed ATI catalyst, I think it was 4.8 overtop of my Omegas and Radlinker control panel. What a mess that was. I don't know why this happened. Only critical updates are supposed to be part of the automatic updates. Usually you are supposed to go to the Windows Update site and select driver updates manually if you want them.Bill
