Any suggestions for a new case? Something simple and co...

Hello, I am looking for a really nice case for about $150.00 or less. I originally wanted a Thermaltake Tsunami but I don't like the USB's on the top of the case. I was looking at a Silverstone TJ03 but the price is rather steep at $272.00. Silverstone's TJ06 looked nice and it was priced right. It has a wind tunnel design but their site says that it is not compatible with boards that have the CPU in the center. I believe my new one will - MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum s939 Nforce3 Ultra. I am not going to do water cooling and I don't want something that looks like the Vegas strip or a alien spacecraft. I just want a good quality, very cold case. All metal would be nice.Any ideas? Thanks,Jeff

don't know if you know this case??i use the Coolermaster STACKER...excellent case with room for Extra fans..very well built.its a aluminium case so quite light but strong as well. best wishes steveukcomputer specs are cool as well..very good choice of memory

I'm partial to Lian-Li cases, and this one is quite the bargain http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/pro...f0a17819455bb2f. Offers excellant air cooling (120mm fans -- move alot of air quietly) and top notch build quality.Any of the memories from the following list are a great choice for your proposed build. They all use Samsung TCCD modules that overclock like bandits. The Lian-Li looks nice but the link you gave has different specs from Newegg. They show it with a 80mm exhaust fan and reviews list the same thing. If it had the 120, I would go for it in a second.http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp...211#DetailSpecs

Hi Greg, I see you've made 'the change'. How did it go and would you mind sharing your experiences and findings a bit? Thanks in advance, good luck and kind regards Jaap

Yup Lian Li make good looking cases though their build quality isn

"The Lian-Li looks nice but the link you gave has different specs from Newegg. They show it with a 80mm exhaust fan and reviews list the same thing. If it had the 120, I would go for it in a second."I bought the case I linked to from Performance PC's for my recent upgrade. In stock trim it has two 120's and an 80mm blowhole fan. I thoroughly enjoy working with Performance PC's -- first class one-on-one service, and their custom case work is awesome. A bit more expensive, but well worth it to insure that I get what I want. I notice that Newegg calls the case "PC-7A"... that might be the difference. Looks to be a stripped down version of the case offered by Performance PC's (I notice that the 7A doesn't have a left side window, for instance). I agree with your conclusion that the 120 fans are a must have. They move much more air and do so quietly.Hi Jaap,Well, I must say that I'm quite happy with the recent upgrade. But it's gone slow due to my having to work mucho hours right now. No great problems, and that G.Skill memory is really awesome. Running the system at 10x267 as I write this. Clearly, other factors involved as well. The PC P&C PSU is no doubt one of them. Utterly smooth and consistent power delivery (I did have to tweak up the +5V rail just a touch). The case too is highly modified (by Performance PC's) and does a great job of keeping things cool (I had them add another 120mm fan in the window to blow air directly onto the CPU/Memory area of the MB. Also, they replaced the 80mm blowhole with a 120).The system runs the sim buttery smooth. I never had any serious problems running the sim with my previous system, but the new one is certainly better. No problems going into large airports (though I don't run with alot of add-on traffic -- mostly some GA stuff) and complex sceneries. It blows right thru any clouds that AS can throw at it. Not a single crash or hang in any of the games I prefer. My only complaint is that the PSU fan can be a bit loud. The rest of the system is pretty quiet, but when that Delta fan in the PSU kicks in I know all about it. I'm looking for an alternative to replace the Delta, but for the time being I'm tweaking the OS, my games, and having a ton of fun flying this sim (when I have the time). All in all I'm more than satisfied, and this system will get me thru another year or so till I'm ready to move over to PCI-e.Cheers, Greg

Hi Greg, thanks for the comments and taking your time. Looks like you're going for the full banana and overclocking like nobody's business! Hehe And congratulations! The stability is indeed amazing and you might be even more surprised once you've tried xp64 with it. Concerning your only complaint, I don't know if you can get BeQuiet PSUs in LA? If you can it would be great. Their 'nomen est omen'. If you run them at max 60-65% of their nominal power they remain virtually silent (ca. 19db). They also allow the case fans to continue running for a little moment once you've powered off the system. >>All in all I'm more than satisfied, and this system will get me thru another year or so till I'm ready to move over to PCI-e.<
