looking for good LCD monitor

Featured Replies

Hi there I have decided to switch to an LCD monitor but before i ditch my monster of a 21" CRT I need some feedback from those of you that currently use LCD for playinf FS. what features do I need to look for? I have noticed tha there is a big difference in picture qulaity from one LCD to another. also ther seems to be a fair bit of ghossing on a lot of the LCD's. can u guys provide me with some brand names that make good qulaity monitors that work well with games? thanks

Well this topic has been discussed in depth before in this forum but I'll throw in my 2 cents worth. I also had one of those "monster" 21" CRT's and recently moved to an LCD. I bought the Dell 2005FPW LCD monitor and it's great with FS9. Yes, some people have reported problems with this monitor but I had none. There is no ghosting and the picture quality is as great as my old Trinitron CRT. You can probably get it for less than $500 today. You might want to do a search on this forum for additional recommendations. Hope this helps.Jim

I'm using the 'Samsung' SyncMaster 171s.It's really good and I don't know what this ghosting claim is all about as, I haven't seen any on mine. This screen gives you 1280 x 1024 resolution. Now, they are a very reasonable price too.-------------------------------------------Right, should I do another quick lap of the old Nurburgring circuit with 'GT4' or go flying?Dave T.

I mentioned earlier that I had the Dell 2005FPW 20" LCD. I just ran across an excellent review of this monitor vs an Apple LCD which may be of interest: http://www.anandtech.com/displays/showdoc.aspx?i=2400. According to the review I made a very good choice but now the monitor is much cheaper -- around $350. Jim

>I'm using the 'Samsung' SyncMaster 171s.>>It's really good and I don't know what this ghosting claim is>all about as, I haven't seen any on mine.>What I have heard is that there is no ghosting if you have a fast TFT. So what is the response time of this 171S?BTW I find a lot of Samsung 173 but no 171.
