May 15, 200521 yr hi all well after some research and my budget here is what ive ordered AMD Athlon I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
May 15, 200521 yr Thats a nice system. I personally would have gone the 939 socket route just to be able to take advantage of the X2 (dual core) when it becomes mainstream. I could be wrong but I don't think you can do that with the 754 socket, am I right?Apart from that, it should make FS9 really fly ;-)
May 15, 200521 yr Author yes hi Robit was a very difficult choice to make to go 939, the reason why i stayed with 754 is that id have to fork out another $100 Australian for a motherboard and considering i have these large intervals where i dont play FS for months i think it would have been overkill,i think this will get me through for 2 years when FS2007 is released i suppose, no news of FS2006, so FS2004 will be on my HDD for another 18-24 months!i certianly hope it flys; i want my PMDG 737 to fly in VC thats all i am after! I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
May 15, 200521 yr Well dual core will not necessarily be preferrable for FS 2006. The fastest dual core CPUS the A64 X2 is still slower than the FX series in general. And FS 2004 is optimized for single threaded CPU:s. As for FS 200X we obviously don
May 16, 200521 yr Author hiwell thats a Live card, i have a Live in my current system and im very happy with it, do you think i can run the PMDG 737/800 in VC mode with 20 fps, NO AI (as i fly online) with this set up? I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
May 16, 200521 yr I agree with Par, about the Sound card. I think the Audigy presents less stress on the CPU than the Live does. But overall, you may never tell the difference. As for the X2, yeah very true about it not really being of any benefit to FS9. The only reason I mentioned it is that it might give a little more head room in later upgrades. But definitely no, or extremely little, benefit right now.Hey I just noticed you're from Brisbane? Im from Melbourne originally but I work in Canada in ATC. But do I bloody miss aus though?Cheers.
May 16, 200521 yr Author wow Rob Melborne and Canada are far far from each other, hey i spent 13 yrs in Melbourne, too b l o o d y cold for me there so now i am up in sunny brisbane !:-hah I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
May 16, 200521 yr If you thought Melbourne was cold, you should try Canada.Brisbane is a little too hot for my taste but would make a good retirement spot, thats for sure.Best rgrds,
