May 27, 200521 yr mip map slider to 4 and changing mip map detail level from high quality to quality is what helped me the most with that issue.
May 27, 200521 yr I get shimmering and/or waving mountains in the distance that sometimes pop in and out very rapidly. I have wondered if there is a fix for that. Generally, I try not to let minor video issues get to me any more. I feel fortunate to have a PC and sim set-up that needs no significant adjustment and that FINALLY runs the sim 90% to 95% the way it was supposed to be run: without glitches, slowdowns, crashes, etc.--and yields fantastic images and creates excitement in me about this fabulous hobby of ours!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
May 28, 200521 yr That's a good attitude to take regarding the display issues JS....at least until it becomes a ride-along passenger sim as well :-lol. Then we can really batter the scenery processing outside some more. Just gotta know when to fold 'em and accept the current limitations.Anyway, DELL caged my rabid little puppy this morning and shipped it off today, so I guess its definitely a "Memorial Day" weekend for sure over here so to speak....Happy simming.Mike
June 17, 200520 yr >I suggest, you get a second monitor an ELO touch screen for>panels, radio stack, GPS etc that you can operate with your>finger.>Anyone else using a touch screen monitor? Looking at a 19" Dell and would like to hear a bit more on how comfortable it is to use along side the main display.Been having too much fun lately with the new rig. Also using a Nostromo Speedpad N52 which is quite cool for programming some of the key assignments onto like flaps, gear, cut-throttle and ATC commands. You can also easily program the multi-directional thumb pad for all the external views as well as the scroll wheel for trim wheel settings.Happy simming.MikeDELL XPS Gen 5 Dual Core HTT 3.2GHz 800FSB2GB DDR2 SDRAM, 800GB RAIDWinXP (SP2)ATI Radeon X850 XT PE2405FP 24" Ultrasharp Widescreen
