May 24, 200521 yr I got a new rebfurbished DELL XPS Gen3 machine.Processor: Intel P4 3.2 HT processorMemory: Dual channel 1GigVideo Card: replaced the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 (AGP)with my old AGP card Geforce 6900 Ultra 256KHard Disk: 256GigsWith the ATI Card (before replacing it with the geforce 6900 Ultra 256K1. Installed FS9.1, : Tested the defaul cessna and got : 50-60 FPS : I was happy.2. Installed MegaScenary/Megacity: Tested and still got : 50 FPS: I Was happy.Replaced ATI with Geforce card.3. Tested (Megascenary / default cessna) and still got: 50 FPS: No improvement over the ATI card. Hmmm..... OK.. atleast the FPS is 50.But then after a while it dropped to around 25.I started adjusting various parameters and it dropped down to 8.And then I set every parameter back to what it was as per my old computer (that was tweaked to its maximum).. and then I got back my 50 FPS.But then if I exit out and comeback to the same airport and same default plane.. its now 25 FPS. Whats up with that? Its now at 25 FPS..and sometimes.. I may get higher. What FPS should I expect?I am worried..that after I add Ultimate traffic, Airport scenary and Payware aircraft ATR, etc...my FPS would drop to my old DELL Dim 4400 computer. Around 13-20FPS.So right now.. I feel that buying a new computer.. I have not added any value.I am also beginning to believe.. these video cards are way over hyped and over priced. I paud almost $500 bucks for that GeForce 6900 Ultra 256. Hmmm.,..... I am also disillused with this whole FSim thingi... Reinstalling everything.. is a pain in the butt..with the payware reinstall scheme.. each one is different giving me grief. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
May 24, 200521 yr Manny,Switching between an Nvidia Card and a Radeon can mean nothing good. They don't play well together, and it's possible you have leftovers of each when switching the drivers out.Are you installing in safe mode and removing all drivers and registry items before proceeding with the install?IMHO, it is imperative to use Driver Cleaner or something similar, clean out the old stuff, reboot to vga in safe mode, then install, reboot again.Mixing cards, drivers, etc... may explain the performance.Be absolutely certain you have no leftovers before testing. May 24, 200521 yr Author Hi Joe,Well I removed the ATI drivers and logeed back in.Then I installed the GeForce driver. But not in safe mode. Now, I can go back in safe mode and remove the geoforce and reinstall it in safe mode. But what do I do with the ATI driver leftovers and registry? how do I know and how do I remove them if any is left behind now? I can't uninstall ATI driver now.Hmm....Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
