June 3, 200521 yr Hello everyone,New poster and new to msfs2004 and i am looking for a good setup for this stick. I have used it lomac for a while and a friend of mine suggested that i get 2004 and so far i love it, but i get confused on how i should set it up and was hoping i could find a setup for at least a good starting point. i've tried to google a setup but can not find any . Does anybody know where i can get some helpThanks,Ghost
June 3, 200521 yr I just used the joystick configuration utility in FS9 for mine. You can pretty much set the buttons up however you like them. Besides the usual axis for pitch, throttle and roll, you have rudder on the throttle ( useful if you don't have room for pedals) I have Hat # 3 set up for Left brake, right brake, all brakes and set/ release parking brake, that sort of thing.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg
June 3, 200521 yr I use the lower hat switch for panning, and the upper hat for trim. Foward for down, and back for up. B button for flaps, and red fire button to retract the flaps. "A" button switches through views, and trigger is brakes. Orange D on the throttle for landing gear, and the small orange throttle knob for prop & mixture. I don't use the rotory knobs, and have rudder pedals.
June 4, 200521 yr I have used the X36 for a number of years Ghost and only have it set up from the FS assignments, I have not bothered using the Saitek programming s/ware.Bottom hat switch on stick automatically should map to POV, this also allows panning in spot view and VC.Left button on stick - top-down view, useful for taxying.Right button - re-centre pan view. Useful when in VCLanuch button - PTT for voice on VATSIMFront button - F9 for FSNavHat switch on throttleLeft - cycle viewsRight - cycle views backwardsUp - arm spoilersDown - kneepadSmall rotary - trim wheelLarge rotary - Prop pitchI have a registered copy of FSUIPC so can map the lower detent of the throttle to reverse thrust.HTH
June 4, 200521 yr Thanks everyone this is helping a lot. I,m very good at flying, nav, take off landing, and even combat. But my assigning skills are in the tank. But now i have to figure out why my sim crashes to the point of shutdown .I have the lateat patch but i'm thinking either something is conflicting with it and stomping on it or my video card is starting to run out of gas. It's a TI4600 wich by standards is still pretty good but it's 4 years old ad probably tired from all the doom and ut 2004 and lomac i've played.>Ghost
June 4, 200521 yr Hi Ghost. There is a long history of problems with the Saitek Programming Software and Windows versions since 98SE. I have personally found major issues with this software and Microsoft's mouse and keyboard software which I also use and have given up using the Saitek Programmer. I do use the most recent driver which works fine with Win XP Pro. You might try doing it that way.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg
