July 3, 200520 yr If you're running high speed cable and use Charter, they offer their own CHSSS (charter high speed security suite). It's excellent and free and uses few resources. I dumped Norton a while back and my machine runs much better. My download speeds went from 50kb/sec with Norton to 450kb/sec with CHSSS. Norton was really putting the screws to my overall performance. CHSSS also found a virus that Norton ignored. It was a trojan-dropper that opened the backdoor to other virus'. Guess Norton wanted that one on my system so I could see it stopping virus' that it actually caused.
July 4, 200520 yr I'm using AVG Free and Sygate and both work very well. I choose Sygate since it's less taxing on system resources than Zone Alarm and still seems to do what it's supposed to.
July 4, 200520 yr Antivir is the way to go. I tried Avast, Nortons, AVG, all caused some sort of problems on 4 separate PCs. Antivir hs consistently proven reliable without interfering.Del.____________________________________________AMD64 3400+ATi Radeon 9800SE 256MB (softmod to 9800 PRO)2 X 512Mb DDR333 Kingston RAM 200Gb Seagate Barracuda SATA 7200 HDD(x32 XP SP2 Home)40GB Hitachi SATA 7200 HDD (x64 XP Pro)Abit AV8 Pro moboSony DVD-ROMLG DVD-RW"How wide the limits stand, between a splendid and a happy land"http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg[/img]
