July 5, 200520 yr Hello,Wherever I have addon scenery installed I have an odd frame rate problem. It stays at 25 (which it's locked at) except about every 20 seconds it goes down as low as 9 for about 10 seconds before leaping back up to 25. This happens whether I'm taxying, flying or staying completely still. Here are my computer specs:AMD 64 3000+1 GB RAM (newly updated)64 MB Radeon 960040GB HDIf someone has any ideas as to what's causing this I'd be very grateful - I doubled my RAM today and it had little impact. Thanks!
July 6, 200520 yr On my laptop which I used to fly on I had the same problem, I think it might have something with CPU cycles, I dont know much more sorry
July 6, 200520 yr I too am curious about this one? Does it end up giving you a stutter since it drops so low from 25 fps?
July 6, 200520 yr Hi guys,Yep this is a laptop as well. Yes the stuttering gets very bad for a while before zooming back up to 25 FPS again :-hmmm Thanks
July 6, 200520 yr Might have to do with power saving, its possible that at a certain point in the cpu cycle the computer says USE LESS POWER!! So it dosnt put out as much as it did in another part of the cycle
July 6, 200520 yr That might make sense - how would I go about finding out if this is the case and trying to do something about it?
July 6, 200520 yr Is Cool'n Quiet enabled on your system? check in the BIOS, and disable it if it is. Could be the answerBestGrahame (EDHL)

July 7, 200520 yr HiCool N Quiet isn't installed, for some reason doesn't install (motherboard not compatible apparently despite the fact its a 64 processor.I will monitor which programs are running and how much cpu they're using when FS is running and I'm having this problem.Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated.ThanksJonathan
July 8, 200520 yr I established that cool n' quiet wasn't installed on my PC - so downloaded the latest drivers (which included AMD Cool n' Quiet software) from AMD's site, and it wouldn't install.
July 8, 200520 yr have you gone into your BIOS to see if the option is in there? Maybe update your motherboard drivers
July 8, 200520 yr No option in bios - it was the new motherboard drivers that didn't install, unfortunately.
July 9, 200520 yr Assign a key for the unassigned option, 'Refresh Scenery' and your problems will be over.I do this every time I am approaching my destination for a smooth landing.Dave T. .........On the lovely warm Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/ Dave Taylor
