Okay im thinkng about building a new system.Current system is a P4, 2,8Ghz, ATI 9700pro, 1GIG RAMI thinking aboutAMD X2 4800+ (double processor)SLI NVIDIA 7800GTX (2x 7800GTX)2 GIG RAMHarddrive RAID systemOkay, now i've read here that...1.) FS9 doesnt even support double processor and...2.) SLI technology needs software (games) that actually support this stuffSo would you say, all the above is worth it and just stay with a single processor and a single graphic card ?thanks for your thoughts

Stick with the single if I were you and really trick it out, what you can do is get a PCIE motherboard (believe me you want it) with dual 16x PCIE slots and have a double gx card. This is my reccomendation AMD 64 FX-57Asus/Abit/Epox motherboard, your choiceDual X850 XT PCIE 2Gbs Dual Channel Corsair XMS series ram74GB Raptor SATA (x2 if you want)That will get rid of your spare money problem :D

thanks for the reply...so does that mean a SLI solution (2 graphic cards) will effect the performance in FS9 ?I always thought that the software needs to support the SLI technolgy !?!?:(

I am not going to pretend to be an expert on SLI systems, I dont have one, never really considered it, but I dont think you need SLI to run dual GX cards, google SLI and find more

Stay with a single processor and single graphics card for this version of FS. Get a Socket 939 motherboard so that you are at least dual core upgradable if the next version of FS actually benefits from such extra grunt. IMO, forget SLI with FS completely - CPU is the the main determinent of FS performance and SLI capable nVidia cards up to the 6800 series have performance issues with clouds and AA. The 7800 may cure this latter issue, but I'm not holding my breath. I'd go ATI instead.Gary

I wanted to do the same..and decided to get a DELL XPS for $850 bucks.. it has the Intel 3.2G, 1G dual channel memory, HD270MB and I get around 25 FPS with everything loaded.I used the money to get a 24" widescreen LCD, I am getting a 19" ELO touchscreen LCD monitor with Project Majenta for my cockpit. I am even thinking of replacing the CH Pedals with a PFC Pedals.I decided to postpone the urchase of SLI and dual for now.

I recently did the same thing you are thinking of. Here's the system I ended up putting together:P4 3.8GHz CPU (570 - 670 wasn't out yet when I bought CPU)1GB DDR2 533MHz RAM74GB WD Raptor HDDAudigy 2 ZS sound cardBFG 7800GTX video cardEnermax EG701AX 600W PSUDell 2001 20" LCD MonitorI don't know anything about "double processor"....I've been told that 2gigs of RAM may slow down the system so I went with 1 gig. (Doesn't make sense to me and I may add another gig in the future just to test....) Go with 1 gig to start with. You can always add more later. Not everything is SLI supported yet so I decided not to go that route (yet - plus it would have cost me another $600 for another 7800GTX and more for a different motherboard). I'd skip SLI for the time being.I didn't go RAID, but I considered it and am still considering it. (Kinda wish I'd gone with a 2 X 74GB Raptor RAID 0 set up to start with.)

Try thisAMD X2 4800+Dual ATI X850XT on Cross Fire MoBo2X WD Raptor 10K 36G in RAID 0 (70G in two partitions for FS itself and scenery Add-Ons)2X WD Raptor 10K 74G RAID 0 for all your utility programs like Active Sky,,FSInn,Windows XP Pro,Wide View,FideFS TrackIR or other Games .Windows -for its own partition.Memory-pay attention on Low Latency around 2-2-2-5 its an average right now I guess.Well low is faster high is slow.Monitors.
