July 27, 200520 yr ehehe, I've been building this computer since last November...eheh,AMD 3400, 512 Corsair ram, 2 Raptors in Raid 0. Now I'm considering video options and would appreciate advice and opinions. My budget at the moment is 150.00. I am looking at the 6600GT and the 6800. Both cards are available in the price range.1st Question> Which one?2nd question> I plan to use at least 2 monitors as I am now. 1 for guages and Flightkeeper type displays, the other for the main view. I think either of those two cards will do nicely in this application. But I am also building a Simpit and it cries out for 3 monitors. What is you guys opinions of adding an inexpensive PCI card for a 3rd monitor? I'd like to have the 3 view setup as looking out a bit of each side past the main view. Will this require a second computer with Wideview to achieve the 3rd view?Orrrrr...... should I save the 150.00 and put it towards one of those special cards that will display 3 views. cant remember the name at the moment. What would be the best way to spend 150.00 on video? Thanks....Elvis
July 28, 200520 yr Hi Elvis, what kind of display adapter are you running now? 2nd question, which resolutions are you aiming at? At the first glance, I would add another 512MBs of RAM before anything else... Hope this adds to thoughts, good luck and kind regards Jaap
July 29, 200520 yr Author well, the computer just has a 128MB Nvidia, maybe something like a MX400. It was just used to build. It only has XP on it right now sitting in the corner. A few sheets of plywood next week and I'll be simpitin... so nows the time to soend 150 on video. Ram comes later. maybe the last thing. I but a piece or two per month. So, I am looking for the best resoultion that 150.oo can buy. If you know, can I add a PCI card later and simply drag another view over to the 3rd monitor? or do I need to get wideview to accomplish this. I just cant make it out from the website.
July 29, 200520 yr Why did you buy it bit by bit when you can't use it until it's complete. Why not put the money aside until you can buy the complete kit - that way your spec'd machine costs less or, for the same money, you can get better specs? You started building it 8 months ago and it hasn't been used?
