August 9, 200520 yr I have a problem with out of memory message Fs will now close appearing after about 6 hours running FS.Cant do long distance tranaltlantic flights without restarting FS.My ststem specs are:AMD 64 3200+ processorFFX5500 128 Nvidia graphics card160gb hard drive1GB RAMI have windows managed page file and about 100gb free on hard drive so i cant see a reason why this is happening. these specs are pretty reasonable for running FS i would have thought.Didnt get this on my previous system which was only half these specs.I have FS global installed Plus FS environment and various addon airports both commercial and freeware, but was still having problems before i installed addons.Did a recent defrag of the system which seems to have eliminated the majority of stutters, havent tried long flight since the defrag.{I read in a post bad fragmented hard drives can cause memory problems}No other problems with my system only running FS.Anyone Offer any Thoughts on this.Thanks.
August 9, 200520 yr Hi Richard,If you look at my post about 3 days ago, you'll see I have the same problem. So far no response from anybody.Abe
August 9, 200520 yr I have limited RAM so I'm not sure if this will help you.I too used to get "out of virtual memory" messages until I went in and set the size of my page file instead of letting windows manage it.I set it first to 380 MB following guidelines I had read. I still had the problem.I was always afraid to set it much higher as I didn't want it to slow down my system, but I went ahead and set it to 1000 MB.Since then I haven't had a single out of memory message. It DID NOT slow down the sim in the least little bit, in fact some things smoothed right out.
August 9, 200520 yr Author Ive also used my own settings in the page file. i had it set at the maximum of 1530MB but still had the problem. If you have windows managed does it not keep increasing the size as it needs it?It seems to me that FS is not freeing up memory and keeps going till its got no more available. I beleive there is also a memory leak problem with FS2004.Can someone explain what this is and can it be fixed?
August 10, 200520 yr Hello,Each time I had this problem it was due to the installation of a new scenery; In some sceneries (.bgl files) in the scenery folder there are LandClass .bgl files this generates problems when this scenery folder is associated with a texture folder.LandClass .bgl files must be in a scenery folder BUT NO texture folder may be associated. Otherwise FS searchs and searchs for non available textures and loads all the textures coming to an "out of memory" problem.Control your new sceneries.Hope it helps Emile EBBR Z590 Aorus Elite, i9-11900K 3.5Ghz Nvidia RTX 5070, 32 GB Mem, SSD 3 Tera , 3 monitors Win11 Pro X64 LM P3D V6.1 Little Nav Map Hifisim Nvidia 591.44
