August 28, 200520 yr Hi everyone,I got my FS2004 running just right and am very happy with it, however I have read that users of Nvidia cards should update to the 77.77 driver. Im a little afraid to do this as I dont want to do something to my card settings and make it slow down FS.Anyone have any comments on this?Should I or Shouldnt I update it?Will the performance increase at all?and exactly what's the purpose of updating a driver? Thanks Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
August 28, 200520 yr which card and drivers are you using at present? if you are uing a 6 or 7 series card it may pay you to update but ealier 3 4 and 5 series cards may run better with older drivers. my last card, a 4 series ran best with 45.23 drivers, but my present series 6 is happiest with the latest drivers.
August 28, 200520 yr Author Thanks for the reply,I currently have a Geforce 5500 OC 256 Mbram PCI. Im not exactly sure what drivers I have but I went in the options of the card and it says version 6.14.465(or something close to that) So im assuming thats the driver im currently using(I know I know I sound like such an amateur LOL)ThanksEdit: Ya It says driver version 6.6.9.3(I have no clue if thats good or not) Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
August 29, 200520 yr it is allways a good idea to try new drivers but they do not allways improve thigs, although you can roll back the drivers, i allways create a restore point befor trying new drivers so if they do not work i can go back to the previous drivers and settings that i know work. In my experieince the best drivers for a video card are the last ones made before a newer generation of card is introduced. in the past i have seen a big imrovemt changing drivers to a newer version, but only once, that was with a G4 and 45.23 drivers.
