Saitek X45 not recognized by WinXP Pro

Featured Replies

Hi,I upgraded my comp to an Athlon 3500+ and Asus A8N5X board running nForce 4 chipset. My X-45 doesn't get recognized on the new system. I get the message "Unrecognized device..." after the Saitek driver prompts to plug in the stick. I tried unplugging everything, updated USB drivers, followed advice I found on the net (deleting HID in Device manager) and such to no avail. Windows XP Pro with Service pack 1 and not much else installed just yet - apart from FS9. I would appreciate any help, because I am rapidly running out of ideas what else to try. Just for the record, the stick installed flawlessly on my second comp, an 1Gb Athlon. But that's not where I want it! :)I also have an old CH stick with rudder pedals (both analog) and CH USB Yoke. All that ran perfectly on my old machine (Athlon 3000+) with the X45 happily coexisting with the other two. Thanks!Regards,Jure

Hi Jure, I had a similar problem with my X52. Saitek told me they have a problem with the nForce chipset. Contact Saitek support, they will advise you. I had to get a ( I think) pci/usb card, about

Hi Russell, thank you very much! Will contact Saitek right away.Jure

Hi Jure, have you tried to install the Saitek driver yet? In case, leave the stick unplugged until you're asked to plug it in. FWIW, I'm using 2 different Asus nF4 mainboards without troubles. OT, the newest generation of Creative soundcards - XFi - also have problems with nF4 boards. http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/bo...id=33095#M33095IMHO, this is a consequence of the interfaces becoming more and more closed source and secretive. Nevertheless, good luck to you and kind regards Jaap

Hi Jaap, yes, I tried all sorts of things and didn't plug the stick in prematurely. Just like you, I was running the X-45 on my old Asus A7N8X without problems!But... I have solved the problem! Thanks to Russell's advice, I contacted Saitek and was promptly replied that I should install a PCI to USB card and plug the X-45 into that. Works like a charm. So if anyone runs into the same problem, there's a (not the cheapest) solution if your Saitek X-45 stick doesn't get recognized on a nVidia nForce 4 chipset: buy and install a PCI to USB card. Thanks guys! All the best,JureP.S.: Now back to the IMMENSE task of reinstalling all my 21Gb worth of FS2004. :)

Wow, that was quick, Jure! Computers are strange sometimes, aren't they? I run 2 X45s on 2 different nF4 systems and didn't face that prob... The only thing I did notice, is, to not share the same pair of USB ports with other USB devices. Maybe because of the X45's fancy lights? I wish you heaps of fun with your new system Jaap
