November 15, 200520 yr Any AMD users know if that's an abnormal temp or not. I usually run about 40oC under full load on my box, but that's with an Intel P4 3.06. The only other thing that stands out to me as such is that's an odd amount of RAM.Try running Windows System Information and see if there are any clues there.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg
November 15, 200520 yr Go ahead and post the information, including the system model. That's about the only way I can think of that we can try to narrow down the problem.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg

November 15, 200520 yr Thank you, Sir, will put the thinking cap on.In the meantime, someone else may well be able to recognize something also.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg
November 15, 200520 yr Well, my old system was AMD, and they do run hot, very hot (the number one reason I switched to Intel). I do believe that your CPU is running too hot. What kind of heatsink/fan combo are you using? What is the ambient temp of your computer room? Is there sufficient breathing room around the case?If your case is stuffed in a desk, get it outta there. You need good airflow, not just fresh cool in, but hot out. You gotta have lotsa room all around it.Make sure the fans weren't all installed blowing in. With only the PSU fan venting out, there isn't enough exhaust. I always keep like numbers blowing in as blowing out: In my case there are 3 blowing in, 3 blowing out.Make sure the case has breathing room inside as well. Cables hanging everywhere restrict airflow. Fans collect LOTS of dust. Buy a can or two of compressed air, take the case outside, and blow liberally, getting all the fans and every thing you can see inside the case and all case openings. If your CPU heatsink uses thin fins, dust will build up quickly, reducing efficiency. It may be time to upgrade the heatsink/fan. Thermaltake, CoolerMaster, or my personal favorite Zalman have fine, high-efficiency units. Also, remember that the CPU heatsink will only bleed of lots of heat if the air around it is sufficiently cooler. In other words, the cooler the room, the better the heat transfer from the sinks to the air.I could be wrong on the diagnosis, but I do believe that is way too hot. Simply dusting the case out and setting it in the open where it can breathe may make all the difference. I hope this helps, and good luck!-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying!A pilot pulled out a .38 revolver and placed it on top of the instrument panel, then told the navigator "I use this on navigators who get me lost!"The navigator pulled out a .45 and placed it on his chart table. The pilot asked, "What's that for?""To be honest sir," the navigator replied, "I'll know we're lost before you will."
November 15, 200520 yr Yeah ill probably be upgrading soon...... the bad thing is.. ive got the case all open and out on my desk forever now.. even putting a huge fan next to the comp> (even tgough loud) doesnt seem to help... ill probably get something to cool that off....that temp.. was idle and... in open.. lol
November 15, 200520 yr Just a couple of thoughts: 1) Although I still think that your issue is heat, you might want to at least check the HP specs for your system in terms of the power supply. Many large market systems will try to save costs in that area and it can lead to issues with the system's ability to handle demanding programs such as FS9.2) You might also want to check out some of the options in terms of getting things to run cooler than they do now. A couple of those thoughts would be to make certain that you have good thermal compound between your heat sink and the CPU itself and that none of the clips have loosened. You might also want to look at replacing the heat sink that you have with a more efficient one. Here is a link to one website which I have found useful in the past:http://www.coolerguys.com/Good luck with it.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg
