January 27, 200620 yr Some time ago I was surfing the Web for Fresnel lenses for use with PC monitors and came across a site that sold the lenses on their own but also did kits which comprised a black hood that attached to and projected from the front of the monitor. The lens slid into a sort of slot in this hood.I thought I had bookmarked the site and/or saved the page but cannot find it now, nor does a 'Google' of web turn up the site.I am almost sure the site was a UK one and I think the name began with 'M'.Does anyone know the site I am talking about, if so could they post the URL please? It may even have been from one of the small ads either side of the AVSIM title here.NB I do NOT want a list of sites that sell the lenses, I can get that using Google, it is just that specific site I would like to revisit.TIA
January 27, 200620 yr There is a link to that holder at the bottom did you read the entire thread?non-reflective what is that? Also screen magnifiers what is that?I got the F550 from 3dlens.com I guess it
January 28, 200620 yr But they are the same I guess. This is definiatly called fresnel lens? Or do fresnel lenses need to be made out of glass?
January 28, 200620 yr Author It's just a difference of names, I think. Can you imagine trying to sell Joe Public a screen enlarger/magnifier if you called it a Fresnel lens :-)I suspect that the glass ones may be better quality purely on the difference in cost. Also the one I had was slightly curved where as all the diagrams I have seen of Fresnel lenses the back was perfectly flat.Bottom line, if it works for you why worry?
