tweaked out

Hello my friends out there, first I want you to know im not complaining, but at the same time I am, I find myself always tweaking to get the best frame rate I can, and im wondering if this is not a big con these video card folks are putting on people, I am so tired of wasting time on trying to get the best running system to enjoy the game that it is not fun anymore, I have been buying vid cards back when they started the big race on whose got the best card out there, and I was running the flight sim way back in the 98 days, always upgrading coms and vid cards, and you know what the frame rate has not been that impressive to me. Lets do the math in my opinion if you go out a spend between three and five hundred dollars for a vid card and you put it in a 3800+ 64 WITH I GIG OF RAM that baby should sing, I should be able to turn all the sliders up on fs9 with no problems, and I should get in my opinion 30, 40, 50 or more in frame rate speed (and yes I know that you really cant see past twenty or so any way) that

dont blame the video card manufacturers, blame MS for the poor code in the MSFS program!

FS9 is mainly a CPU limited game, however once you start trying to Antialiasing all those objects and textures...then add Anisotropic to clear it up...thats when you need some graphics card power.Do this...turn off all your AA and AF filtering, keep high quality settings on...now what is your performance? What you see now is pretty much what your system is sending to your GPU, GPU still has an effect here but total gain across board in this non filtered mode is 10-15% tops...the better cards shine in FS9 whenb you start to turn on the filtering...FPS? how close to those "Non filterd" numbers are you now? if you have a weak card the AA/AF will kill the FPS if better card it will be closer to >maintaining< the raw input.PS:Just ebayed my 6800GT and purchased a >7900 GT AGP card!Gainward 7800 GS+ Bliss 512MB AGP = 24 pipe 7900 GT core$$$.Still sticking with this ole AGP!

thanks for the reply guys i really mean that, i just thought id get that off of my chest, feels good though, and i will do that turn of the filtering just to get good frame rate, ive done that before and i did not like the results, but the way i have my sim set up with eight moniters and five computers , i dont need filtering on the instrument panels anyway.onces again guys thanks for the reply.......................Robert

Had the same problem, solved with the 81.98 or 84.25 driver. With the 81.98 driver some other issues are solved concerning the 7800gs/FS9, is being used by most of the 7800gs owners as I understand.Installed the latest driver, 84.56, and untill now everything is working well.ftp://www.xfxsupport.com/public/driver/84...ceware_whql.zipFurtheron, DON'T USE RIVATUNER!The 7800gs isn't (still) supported, if you use it you will get errors, even if you change it to read-out the 7800gs!All FS9 sliders on FULLAA on 8AF on 16High qualitysystem specs:P4 3.0Ghz HT1024mb ddr400Gigabyte GA8IPE1000 rev3 (pci latency standard on 32)XFX 7800gs extremeFS9 around 50 gig!Tuned FS with http://www.fs-gs.com/index.html a long time ago, can advise you to do, no cure no pay, cost you 60 euro, you won't regret it!FPS in standard scenery between 40 - 70FPS with add-ons between 20 - 40 except Cloud9 Amsterdam wich is an very, very bad scenery concerning FPS; I removed it from my HD.Overall there is and will be an dramatic falldown in FPS concerning add-ons, espectially with airports, buildings but with the 7800gs it is acceptable, no or verry slight stutters; slight shimmering.
