Looking for a video card

Featured Replies

Hi all,This is my 1st posting here and I'm looking for a video card which i never really had. At the moment I have a GForce 4 MX video card which really buggs me with some weather and sceneries on FS2004. I usually get an average of 12fps in normal weather and with heavy scneries and weather i almost go down to 8fps. While crusing i get around 25fps. Assunimg that I always look from inside the cockpit!!!My system is the following:AMD AthlonXP 2600+ 1.90Ghz512RAM 80GB HDI would like some advice on what video card to buy, is it true that the new video cards are very dipendant on the system which in my case will keep me to the same fps??? Really whish to solve this problem.RegardsMauro

Just a new video card is not really going to help you too much. FS is very CPU / RAM intensive. You really need a new system. If you do want a video upgrade, given the specs of the rest of your PC, something like a Radeon 9800 Pro will be more than enough. You can find lots of them on ebay. You will see improvement as the GeForce MX series were very low end cards.

Good advice about the 9800 Pro. The 128MB version is fine (no need for 256MB) and anything more expensive won't be of more benefit because of the low CPU speed. The 9800 Pro will help with the cloud problems and will provide better AF and AA but it won't be a miracle cure for FPS - only a faster CPU will really fix that problem.Doug
