May 26, 200620 yr Anyone has any idea how to do this? The options that the jumpers give me is Master (1 drive), Slave and Cable Select, but there doesn't seem to be a jumper position for Master with Slave.Help please :).Leo
May 26, 200620 yr Leo - There isn't a jumper position for Master with Slave (but you already knew that :-) ). Just set the primary drive jumper to Master (that's the one where the operating system is installed and is usually Drive C) and set the secondary drive jumper to Slave.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. May 26, 200620 yr Did that but the computer doesn't boot and get stuck trying to find a HD, saying that's there's no HD at the end. Both HD work well as the Samsung, set as master, and without slave, gets into windows without any problem, and the Maxtor (slave) I can see it as slave in another computer. Thanks,Leo
May 26, 200620 yr Can't you just use the Cable Select setting? The MB should then pick the right HD depending on where you have them plugged in, though you may also need to go into the BIOS and change the boot order.Jim Karnhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_pf.jpg
May 28, 200620 yr Is the master plugged into the end of the cable with the slave in the center connector? Is the cable connected to the motherboard at IDE0? Have you tried another cable? May 28, 200620 yr Leo,As others have said, jumper both drives for cable select (CS). Most modern drives have a diagram on the drive itself showing jumper positions if you're missing the docs. Make *sure* you're using a CS cable (80 vs 40 wires in the ribbon). Master is always the end connection (black), slave in the middle (grey), blue to the mobo.jb
May 28, 200620 yr Hey, thanks to all. I have a cable select but the old Maxtor doesn't have the option. This would be a dilemma if it wasn't because I have another computer with a HD including the option Master with slave present, so I am using it to access the old HD and passing the info to the other PC through my home network.Leo
