July 25, 200619 yr Something's wrong with my system, I think. I tried to install the new Nvidia Drivers, and even though I delete my old drivers, halfway through the install of new drivers, a message tells me that there is something else trying to be installed, and it asks me if I want to minimize the installation until I finish that other installation. OR it wants to know if I want to abort the install. That's not true...there is nothing else trying to be installed.I've tried everything. I've uninstalled my Nvidia 7800, and physically pulled it out of its socket. I've used Driver Pro in Safe Mode, but I can't properly remove the old drivers, and install new drivers. I've tried reinstalling the original drivers that came with the card. Is there a foolproof way to start over....reinstall my card, and then install the drivers? If you have any idea of where I can turn to for help, please let me know. Stan
July 25, 200619 yr If you have the xp os, go back to a restore point before you tried the driver installation. You also might want to download a program called driver destroyer (or something very much like that) at http://www.tomshardware.com/this is an excellent resource for driver info. btw, you did not state which driver you are trying to install. sometimes they can be buggy, especially betas and tweaks. I tried to install a tweaked nvidia 84 series...the end result was that I had to reinstall xp, fs9 and almost start from scratch. sherm
July 26, 200619 yr Author Was trying to install Nvidia 91.31 drivers. But whether I try to install the originals or these, this message about another installation in progress keeps coming up.Perhaps I should go into the Registry to remove remnants..but I'm a little concerned about Registry involvement.Appreciate your help, but there's still something that's working against me.I'd love to call Nvidia, but I don't see a technical line to reach them. July 26, 200619 yr Hummm..I've installed the 91.31's on my mothers system no sweat!! It sounds to me like maybe a Firewall, Antivirus or Spyware type program may be interfering?? All of those programs should be Shut Down while doing a Driver Install...I personally disable my Internet Connection first thing..I would like to give you a link to another forum...I follow this process everytime I swap drivers with great success...You may wish to give it a shot??http://forums.flightsim.com/dc/dcboard.php..._id=17587&page=Good Luck!!
