August 22, 200619 yr Hi,This test was done in the 2D Panel View (with 3D Panel=ON)PMDG 744-400 (PMDG default house colors)Parked on active runway at Boeing Field, Seattle (KBFI)Results Achieved for FPS : +-22.5 FPS I feel this is a poor performance, and please ask for any advice that can be offered to improve on the FPS with the given machine as stated below.GIVEN HARDWAREMOTHERBOARD: A8N-E ASUS
August 22, 200619 yr That's really too limited a situation to assess the systems performance. But, the FPS in that one instance does, indeed, appear to be a bit on the low side. Have you changed the display options over a wide range to ascertain which, if any, seem to have the greatest impact? Is the system a "brand-name" or locally built? (BTW, the correct speed for that CPU is 2.2Ghz.)Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. August 22, 200619 yr Bobby - I've uninstalled the 747 so I can't help right now. But, I'll reinstall it tonight and set the scenario to match what you have for settings and let you know the results.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. August 22, 200619 yr "My concern is to get a smoother graphics when taxing and take off."Bobby, if you are using a Force Feedback controller (particullarly the MS Sidewinder) these have been known to cause problems.Regards,Greg

August 23, 200619 yr Rats. We're building a new house, are living in a rental in Florida, and the discs with the 747 files are still in storage in Atlanta. So, I can't do what I wanted. August 23, 200619 yr Doug,It's not a train smash, I'm going to uninstall and then reintall my nvidia display card drivers, as well as the platform drivers again.I may have some gremlins!Or its the grumpy nut behind the joystick (I'm told by my learnerd wife that it can really cause a problem)BobbyGrumpy Old Man http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"I'm 62 and still waiting for my wings to grow!"
August 23, 200619 yr >Weather:>Sight distance = set full left>Cloud draw distance = 40ml/64km>3-D cloud percentage = 80>>Cloud detail:>Detail clouds = On>Cloud coverage density = MaximumWhat was the weather theme for that flight? If there's a lot of clouds in the sky and the density set to maximum this might be affecting your framerates.>Hardware:>Target frame rate = 30>Display resolutions = 1280x1024x32 >(same setting on 19" CTR Monitor)>>Render to texture = On>Transform and lighting = On>Anti-aliasing = On (when off I have problems in panel)>Filtering : Bilinear>MIP mapping quality = 5>Hardware-rendered lights = 7>Global max texture size = MassiveTry turning off anti-aliasing from Flight Simulator settings, and enable it from your video driver's control panel. This has been know to improve performance a bit. AA also has a negative impact on framerates when the sky's full of clouds. And switch to Trilinear filtering for better visuals, and maybe better performance. Also switch on Trilinear optimisation in the VGA's control panel. There are many options there that could help improve performance, just try tweaking these settings until you get the best performance.Best of luck.NOTE: There seems to be something wrong with your memory configuration, Dual-Channel memory configuration requires that "the total size of memory module(s) installed per channel must be the same (DIMM_A1 + DIMM_A2 = DIMM_B1 + DIMM_B2)". Taken from my mobo's user manual. I don't know if it's applicable on all mobos. But it's worth checking.
August 25, 200619 yr Hey Guys,Taking all the good suggestions and advice I got from you, in the passed few days I decided to do the following;Taking into account I have a 64bit motherboard, a 64bit CPU x2, and a 512mbx256bit display card for a 64bit motherboard, and I am only running on Windows XP Pro 32bit!! (This will improve things when I install Windows Vista 64bit)That when switching from Windows mode in FS to full screen mode, all #### broke loose
August 26, 200619 yr Hi,Just to let you know, if you are still interested in this post of mine, that I found the latest NTune by NVIDIA
August 27, 200619 yr Bobby,You may want to look at [a href=http://www.steve-lacey.com/blogarchives/2005/11/the_blurries.shtml] this article[/a] from Steve Lacey as regards frame rates; in a previous life he worked on MSFS for our favorite company, MS . As to the Ntune thing...hmmm, the GTX should run just fine as is. When the box goes down (as w/Ntune), danger Will Robinson .If you've set your 'locked' framerate to 30FPS, and you get ~29FPS, give yourself some breathing space, FPS-wise. Films run @ 24FPS...more than enough to enjoy continuous motion, or 'persistence of vision' if you'd prefer. I've got a 7900GTX in my Dell XPS system...works a treat, running locked @ 30FPS...also looks great a lower speeds.Ooops, you said a 7900GT, not GTX card. Sorry .jbWindows utility links: [a href=http://exmixer.com/]exmixer.com[/a]
August 29, 200619 yr jp,Mine is also a 7900GTX TDH (Left off the X), but after running the nTune by Nvidia, it's made a big differance now. I programmed it only to kick in when FS is running - save some petrol! Thanks fo the link to Steve Lacey - will have a look see just now.I think though, all will fall in place if I had Windows 64bit instead of XP 32bit, as I said everything else on my system is geared for 64 bit. But I will rather wait for Windows Vista 64 bit than buy Windows XP 64 bit which is so close to the release date of the new version in 2007, just round the corner.BobbyGrumpy Old Manhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"I'm 62 and still waiting for my wings to grow!"
August 29, 200619 yr Bobby, Assuming you're using Windows XP 32-bit, I'd remove that extra gig of RAM. XP really gets messed up with more than 2-gig. Save it for Vista.Allcott
August 29, 200619 yr Bobby,Maybe I should try the newer version of nTune...when I'd tried it before (can't recall the version #) it trashed my Dell XPS FS box, as in, re-install, everything. I'll take another look. Just ordered X-Plane, the latest version looks *very* nice, and the 'real' pilot boyz 'n girlz give it high marks for realism. I'll let ya know .jb[a href=http://exmixer.com/]Windows utility links[/a]
