Which video card?

Featured Replies

I'm planning on getting a new computer for FSX, however I don't want to buy an expensive video card only to replace it in 6 months with a new video card that is Vista compatable and runs DX10. So can someone advise me on what video card I should get that will run FSX with the sliders maxed that I can replace when the new cards come out? I also don't want to choke off any performance from the new computer by having a video card that can't keep up. Please, any advice on an inexpensive card to last me till then would be greatly appreciated.

Something along the lines of a 7900GT would be suitable. It won't run FSX with full sliders though. I don't think any card can at this present point in time.

I use the BFG 7800 GT OC. It works great. I've myself looked at upgrading to a 7950 gx2, but it's not worth it to me. To much $$ for not that much of a performance increase.Actually, I have 2 7800 gt oc's, but sli doesn't work for FSX. I could get the 7950, but I'd lose my sli setup.

If for the time being you're still with AGP then you are somewhat limited but the 7800 GS+ 512Mb (Gainward golden sample, limited edition with only 1500 worldwide) is currently the fastest AGP card on the market (it's actually got a G71 core, same as 7950 GX2).
