Hi Yall..If any of you are running a later model ATI card (ie: X1800/1900/1950)..I was wondering if you would mind sharing your ATI settings your using..I have a X1900XTX...I just can't get it right...I've messed with this thing..and messed with it some more...I just can't get it right...I'm running the 6.8's...Right now With CCC...Have tried Driver Only and ATI Tray Tools ect...I just am having No Joy...I just noticed the 6.9's...I may give those a shot later...Thanks in advance...

I have a problem with the x1900xt displaying dots all over the screen, at first I thought it was the card, so I rma'd it, and now the problem is back with the new one!

Thank You..I'm on the 5.8's right now...I'll swap them out tonight or tomorrow and give the 5.9's and those settings a shot...Have you modded the FS9 config at all??Thanks!!

Here are some attachments showing settings. Also, the only FS9 add-ons I have are the DF727 & LD767 plus the MS FS9 update. Do not plan to spend any more time with FS9 other than flying until FSX is released. Hopefully DF & LD will upgrade their programs - love those two Acft.Erv

Hi Chuck,I'll assume you've read my post in this thread: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=13205&page= and have removed CCC, have the Omega's on your hard drive ready to install, and scrubbed the system completely with Driver Cleaner Pro. Now you can install the Omega's. Nothing trick about the install; keep it simple and follow the standard install he offers. Also install ATI Tray Tools. Once done you'll be prompted to reboot. Do so. Once the reboot is complete:1) Go now to the sim. We're not going to do any flying. Just open the sim to any flight and then close it. Now the FS9.cfg has seen your new driver install.2) Once back at desktop go to your XP Services (in Administrative Tools) to find two entries: a)Ati HotKey Poller, b)ATI Smart. Disable them both (you'll lose Overdrive, but no great loss there).3) Open ATI Tray Tools and hold the mouse over "Tweaks", then click on "Standard Tweaks". We'll start configuring the drivers now but still have some things to do to get the system squared away first. On the Direct3D page the "Shader" section should both show "Disable Override". "Optimize Pixel Shader Code" should be checked. In the "Other" section only "Geometry Instancing" should be checked. In the "Hyper Z" section "Z Compression Mode" should be default (your 1900 might be able to use "2" here; my 850 XT PE can only use default. Try "2" at a later date). "Fast Z Clear Enable" and "Z Mask Enable" should be checked. We're done here, click "Apply".Now click on the "System" tab (the real reason we're in ATI Tray Tools right now). The only feature that should be checked on this page is "Disable Block Write". All others should be unchecked. Click "Apply".Exit ATI Tray Tools4) Now reboot again. We need the reboot to be certain the disables you did in Windows Services take effect, and as well we'd like to see what we just did in ATI Tray Tools set in the registry. Now you're good to go with the driver tweaking.5) Once the reboot is complete you can open ATI Tray Tools. Again move the mouse over "Tweaks" then click on "Adavanced Tweaks". You'll probably get some warning about how the world will end if you proceed... you know what to do about such things. Once on the "Advanced Registry Tweaks" page click to the right of the window at the top and a list of choices will open. Click on "New AA and AF Methods". Do this:Check "Disable Support for Adaptive AA"Uncheck "Disable support for High Quailty AF"Green box for ABST (showing that there is no registry entry. You might be able to check ABST, but I can't with my card. For the time being leave it with the green box. You can go back and try enabling ABST once you have the drivers working as you wish).Click "Apply"6) Next in ATI Tray Tools hold your cursor over the "Direct3D" section and once the page pops up click on "Settings". Now you should see the first page of driver tweaks. In the "Smoothvision" section "Adaptive anti-aliasing" should be greyed out (since we disabled support for it on the "Adavanced Tweaks" page). In the "Smoothvision" section set your AA and AF as you wish. With my card and system (which is very much like yours, same CPU/MB) I run 4xAA and 16xAF (@1600x1200). Certainly you should be able to run 16xAF. Also in the "Smoothvision" section:Check "Enable High Quality AF" (very important)Check "Quality with Trilinear" (also important)In the "Performance" section:"Teaxture Preference" and "MipMap Detail Level" should be set to "High Quality""Wait for Vertical Sync" should be set for whatever type of monitor you're running. Mine is a TFT, so I set this to "Application Preference"."Refresh Rate Override" should be set for whatever type of monitor you're running.Click "Apply"7) Clicking next on the "Additional" tab the page should be configured as such:In the "Tweaks" section all features should be checked except "Alternate Pixel Centers".Temporal AA should be "Disabled"In the "Additional" section:"Catalyst AI" should be set to "High""Flip Queue Size" should be "Undefined""Smart Shader" should be set to "No Effect""Texture LOD Adjustment" slider should be set to "0" (this is something else you can play with later).Click "Apply"8) Finally, go into your FS9.cfg and make sure all instances of video cards/drivers are cleaned away except for the 1900/Omega combo. Now go back into the sim, and to the "Display Settings" page. Click the "Hardware" tab and make sure "Anti-Aliasing" is unchecked and that "Filtering" is set to "Trilinear". All other settings in the "Display" section of the sim are entirely system/user dependant. The above should get you started, and you're ready to flight test! Give it a try and see what you think.Hope this helps,Greg

Wow!! How Awesome...I have to get going to work..So I will get started later this evening....Thanks soooo much...I was having no joy last night either...I had to walk away...Before things started breaking?? Thank you very much for your time!!

Greg, that you so much for that help. If you have any ideas how I can get rid of some of the wavy lines when zooming out, I would REALLY appreciate it! Thank you again, take care-Alex

It's going to be tomorrow before I can get on with this...Thanks again!!

Greg,I can't Thank You Enough for your post...I really appreciate it!! Headway was made this evening...I'm set-up to your specs thusfar...Although I can't say "I'm there yet"...I feel it's possiable..with some learning/tweaking/fiddeling..we'll get there...I've been frustrated with this ATI card for allot longer than you can imagine...But now I'm thinkin'..Maybe..I shouldn't toss it out the window quite yet...Again..I really do appreciate your expertise..

Cool Chuck. Hope I've helped in some small way. Alot of making any VC work well in this sim is tweaking the sim for the VC. I'm sure you've done that with your nVidia, but of course will have to do the same thing for the ATI. I hope you stick with it... you would then be one of the folks who know the techniques for tweaking the sim for both nVidia and ATI cards.Cheers,Greg

Hey Greg, here is what I mean by wavy textures. notice the zoomed out picture and how bad the lines are, even close up, the lines look wavy, especially when in motionThankshttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158320.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158321.jpgmy systemamd fx-552 gb ramati x850winxp sp2latest omega drivers1280x9604x AA 16x AFyour recommended tweaks with ati tray tools
