October 27, 200619 yr FS9 had separate assignable controls for gear up and gear down. In FSX, I can only find a gear toggle switch. This makes it impossible to assign up/down to one of the toggle switches on the CH Yoke.Any ideas?
October 27, 200619 yr Yes, it's in a different file now.1. program all buttons in the menu, with gear down button only.2. You have to edit this file. right click, edit.c:Documents and settingsyour nameApplication DataMicrosoftFSXControlsStandard.XMLit's at the bottom under CH FLIGHT SIM YOKE USB {your id number}find 7GEAR_TOGGLE3. change TOGGLE to read DOWN4. copy this section including all spacing, and paste above 5. change index number 7 to 6 and DOWN to UP.6. save it and open with web browser to check for errors. They will be in red. If all is ok then you are done.Note: 6 & 7 are for inner button and 4 & 5 are for outer button. So yours may be different. Also you might want to back up before overwriting. If not, you can just delete it, and launch FSX, it will create a new one, but you'll have to start over. The spacing is important, so copy from the entire left of .I've also heard you can program buttons with FSUIPC.dll, but haven't done it. I prefer this method so I can save all my custom buttons, keys, and sensitivities. If you ever need that function, keep in mind you can't overwrite this file because the controller ids will be different every time. Not much difference than the cfg file.Hope this helps.
October 27, 200619 yr >Note: 6 & 7 are for inner button and 4 & 5 are for outer>button. So yours may be different. Mine was around the other way, 4 and 5 are the inner switch. Thanks for the heads up, very helpful.Scott Scott
October 27, 200619 yr Ya, I noticed this back on the 15th and posted this on FS2004.comJust like FS9, FSX appears to have left out the Gear Up/Gear Down assignments again. Unlike in FS9 where these were setup for some Devices (CH Yoke had a default assignment for button 5/6 for Gear Up/Down), FSX doesn't seem to do this by default. If you wish to have a Gear Up/Gear Down button assignment, you can modify your Standard.XML file to include 4GEAR_UP5GEAR_DOWN This is located under your Simcontrols.MAP section and then under your Device. The Index number above is 1 less than your Button #, so the Index 4 above is for my button 5 and the Index 5 is for my button 6.
October 28, 200619 yr You can also use (registered) FSUIPC to define Gear UP & Gear DOWN on your yoke.* Orest Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
October 28, 200619 yr I just sent a quick email to [email protected] - hopefully they may resolve the issue in any service pack.
