November 10, 200619 yr So I bought a new computer and installed two graphics cards1. Ati crossfire edition 19502. Ati crossfire 1900xtxI use two monitors , one as primary, one in extended modeI also am running both 9.1 and fsxHere are my finding and commentsGeneral comment and watch this. In crossfire mode, you cannot run two moniters, No extended desktop!. The cards will only run one primary screen. In my setup ,I am always using the second monitor for vatsim, squawkbox , wx etc. I was shocked by that limitation.fs 9.1The frame rates are good , not amazingIn extended moded 1600x1200x32 the res is good but even stillin crossfire mode the frame rates were not that much better than when not in crossfire mode, and I only had one screen operatingfsxFSX would not even start in crossfire modeI recvd an exception error and had to repair the install.FSX did run in the non crossfire mode but the data on the extended desktop was marginal at best, and then failed to run at allIm not sure if that was fsx or the ati cardsHas anyone else had any experience with any of this?Thank youPeter

Makes me think that multiple graphic cards may not be the road most follow after the DX10 cards are released.I figure in about 6 months or so I will build my FSX machine using the Matrox triple head, cpu dual core (quad core?), of some type, DX10 card of some type, 4 gig of ram, Vista, bla-bla....But for now I am finally getting some decent teens and 20's fps in the hills and cities with settings about midway and applying the tweaks out there but FS9 will still be my main sim for the forseable future.Intel P4 3.4 OC to 3.6ATI X800 XT All-in-One 256MB DDR3 AGP(Cat 6.10)2gig DDR3 500 OCZ RAM (2x1GB)2x21" Trinitron monitors1 terabyte of WD hard disksAsus MB running Windows XP Pro SP2CH Pro Yoke/Pedals/Throttle QuadrantTrackIR Pro 4 Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) FSX will need some tweaking, I find that the views on the second screen are marginal. Perhaps I have too much enabled. Still need to fiddle a bit.So the question is that my platform may not be perfect , and yes I could have waited, but then again it is not easy to determine when to jump in and start buying.Regards Peter
