December 6, 200619 yr Hello GuysI have after installing FSX, given it up, it was a big setback for me compared to the nearly perfect FS9 world...But after reinstalling FS9 i noticed a very big difference in one particulary item, namely the look of the water compared with the shiny lively one in FSX - Much Much better. I bought then FSwater and eagerly expected a much better renderation, but sadly, water in my FS9 is just like a big piece of liveless cheewingum, no shine, no live, no nothing, just a big green mashed toad. And now to my question, not long ago i changed my Grapich card to a ASUS Nvidia N6600gt extreme -128 ddr3 ram - 128 bit bus - DirectX 9.0 support etc. running with a ADM64 and 2GB RAM, and latest NVIDIA driver. I have found the system very well suited for FS9, plenty of FPS running complex addon scenery and planes etc.BUT... Comparing with screenies from others, i miss a whole dimension, and honnestly dont remember that the watereffects was so poor before, and have ofcouse all sliders in right position in the setting. Does anybody have the same problem with this card, and is there a "forgotten solution to it" i am most thankfull if anyone can give me a clue, and any recommandation.Take Care JP
December 6, 200619 yr I think you found one of the areas where FSX made a major leap forward.. I do not believe it is your card, but FS9 vs FSX. Bert
December 6, 200619 yr I don't have FSX and don't plan to have it for some time but I have to agree the water in FSX is just great and it is very dissapointing in FS9. A friend has FS Water installed in his FS9 and it's OK but nowhere near FSX. I enjoy a lot of amphib flying too so that is one major dissapointment. That said, the best water I've seen in FS9 and it's pretty darned good is the freeware Real Environment Pro here on Avsim. It' still not as good as FSX but it's sure a lot better than FS9. Personally I doubt if your problem is your video card, give REP a try. The one thing I have undone from REP however is the sun halos, it was cool at first but I tired of it very quickly.
December 7, 200619 yr Hej Bert and NesThanks for reply, i enclose a screenshot, so you can compare. What puzles me is that the shots i see from other simmers seems to be much better. I will investigate the REP solution.Take CareJP
