Any comments on these component choices? I'm not sure whether or not I'll try to OC. I hate cases with doors. It was hard to find one without doors. The memory is one recommended by DFI. Well, I think so, the recommendation on DFI's site was the same number but ended with 2GN. But when I went to Kingston site, I didn't see one listed as 2GN, just 2G as found at Newegg.Total price at Newegg came to $2155 - $120 in rebates = $2035 including shipping. I could upgrade to the 22" Sceptre wide for $130.I'm all ears on cooling solutions. Thanks,Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

A 150GB HD will fill up pretty quickly. That is the only thing I would change. Why are you getting a 7.1 sound card and only 2.1 speakers? No, I wouldn't try to mix and match speakers.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Oh, I dunno. I don't think the user is going to care too much about the speakers (I'm building it for somebody else). It was a cheap card ($50) but I assume still a pretty good one, and I figured if he wanted he could upgrade later. I didn't think it would be any problem using a 2.1 speaker setup with a 7.1 card. It's going to be an FS only machine, and I'm running both FS9 and FSX on my 80 GB laptop with still 10 GB free, and this is my "work" machine. So I figured 150 GB was enough for now and we could add more later. I really wanted the 10K drive, and it's $200 each right now. I figure it will be cheaper and better later. I didn't see any sense in mixing drives with different speeds, and 150 GB was as big as is available right now for reasonable price.Mix and match speakers? Do you mean buying the other 3 - 5 speakers later? Nah, I'd suggest a whole new much better quality setup if he wanted to upgrade. These speakers were only $50, so hopefully they'll be ok. A little scary, though, I hate buying speakers without listening to them first.I can remember almost going for some Bose 2.1 speakers 5 years ago, but the Creative labs ones (2.1) I got instead blew them away in clarity and balance, at 2/3 the cost. And I was working at Bose at the time, lol! Thanks for the response, though.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

>I hate cases with doors. It was hard to find one without>doors.>The Coolermaster Praetorian doesn't have any silly door. I don't think their Stacker case does, either.I am not familiar with the case you mention. The Coolermaster Stacker would be (in my opin) about the ultimate case for a super build. The Praetorian like I have is more of a mid-size tower and quite good, but not as much room as a Stacker.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian
