Greetings All,Just checked out the Matrox website for the heck of it and found my ATI X850XT PE is now supported.I can hardley breath. I am ordering now with some new monitors. Can't wait to fly with this setupBest regardsAndrew:-jumpy :-jumpy

I hope you realize that with an ATI pre-1K card you are limited to 640x480 per monitor which is not sufficient size to utilize FS9 or FSX menus. Even with the post 1K cards the max resolution is 800x600 per monitor which allows menu use but is still unnacceptable IMHO. I have a TH2Go which I reviewed for AVSIM but since my computer still is using the ATI X800GTO which I purchased just before getting the TH2Go I reverted to using my 21" Dell/Trinitron for simming at 1600x1200. I will replace the ATI card with a nVidia 7900 early this year so that I can use the TH2Go with settings of 1280x1024 per monitor which does look quite impressive. ATI and Matrox continue to point the finger at the other as to why the ATI cards won't allow higher resolution settings with the TH2Go but given that the ATI cards cap their D3D resolutions allowances it looks to me that ATI is the culprit and not Matrox. You can run two monitors at 1280x1024 and still use your 850 card with the TH2Go but that is something the nVidia card is capable of without the TH2Go.

Boy that hurts ! Anyhow when I ran the Matrox compatability program it did say 3840x1024. I will def. look into this again and thank you for pointing this out.Nvida 7900's are running around 200 now so its not too bad.BestAndrew:(

You can run 3840x1024 in a windowed mode but there's a catch... that mode looks fine for many programs... just not games, if you open FS2004 or any other game attempting to use the D3D graphics acceleration it will tell you it will only run in software rendered mode since the card won't handle the 3840 part (2048 max) and let me tell you... it sucks big time!

Thanks very much for your insight. You are right on .Can you tell me which Nvida card would be a good choice. My system specs3.4 p42gb corsair pc32002x western digital raptors in raid0asus p4c 800-e deluxe moboreplacing ATI X850XT peThanks Andrew

I'm presently looking at a 7950 with 512 megs. I probably wouldn't consider a 256 meg card since FSX does run better with more GPU memory. I also won't be getting a 8800 card since it would require a new power supply and right now the cost is way too high to justify... I'm too miserly to flush a few hundred just to have the latest/greatest and I'm patient enough to wait for the 7950 to come closer to $200 than it currently is.

Thanks Zfehr, went online to try and find this in agp and can only locate the 7800 in 256. Guess i will start reading reviews and check the comparisons. Jsacks had a good thread about doing this same upgrade and found that the Nvidia card was not as good as his ATI X850XT.I'm not sure now if all this is worth trihead2go.Maybe just a 24" screen will do.Thanks again for your helpBestAndrew

Hahah! I bit my tongue when I saw this one! I've been wanting to get the TH2G for a long time, and in anticipation of FSX coming out (and requiring high-end h/w) I built a new system and, because I've always had ATI - I stupidly bought the X1950XTX. DUH! It also doesn't support 3800+ width, so I'm stuck with great frame rates (1680 x 1050) for FS9 and FS10, but I still can't get TH2G. . . so now I'm looking for a buyer. . . . anyone? Good price. . . ten weeks old . . . .

I am putting in an order today for an Nvidia 7800 GS. Reviews are saying its the best of AGP and I am not rebuilding for FSX. I have put 2 much in my current system and FS9 looks terriffic. What i anm going to do is take my almost brandnew ATI X850XT PE and put it 2 another brand new Asus P4C800-E deluxe mobo(still in box) use a P4 3.06 processor from my last upgrade pic up som mem and a network card and go totown with 3 monitor displat and some add"t displays for AC panels all simotaneously.Just need some addt funds for the ,onitors and a case for the new rig.AGP is not deadBest regards from a stressed out wanna be pilotAndrew
