January 11, 200719 yr I am not quite sure exactly what title to give this, but here is the situation and what I am seeing:First of all, I recently went from a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB to a NVIDIA AGP 6800XT, 256Bit, 512 MB Video card. I did not see the following with the 9800 so assume it is related to the new card. I removed all old driver references (Control Panel add/remove>drive cleaner> etc. as recommended multiple times on these forums. I also implemented Reg Seeker just for good measure). I then installed the latest NVIDIA drivers. I also installed a Zalman CNPS7700-CU RT CPU cooler, and Kingwin KWVC-3 GPU cooler. CPU temperature dropped about 25-30 degrees C. Don't know what the GPU was running originally, but it now runs normally in the low to mid 50's C.Some of the time (make that most of the time) when I click on any panel gauge, for example in the Dreamfleet 727 main panel that offers an identification text, secondary panels partially pop up on the monitor screen. For example, if I am on the main panel, move the mouse curser over the altimiter and the white text pops up identifiying the gauge, a partial of the secondary flight officers panel (either higher or lower) or some other secondary panel appears over the lower half of the display. Move the curser off of the gauge, identifier blanks out, and everything is back to normal. This may or may not be related to secondary panels being present on a secondary monitor. I have not been able to isolate anything yet. Some of the time it happens under these conditions, some of the time it does not. The secondary panels are not consistant either. Some of the time it may be one and at others something else that pops up. I have tried to find some combination that would identify the origin, but it seems to have a mind of its own as to when this happens and when it does not. Some of the time, everything is normal to start with, and possibly five minutes later this issue raises its head. Therefore, I thought it might be a temperature issue. Under as much load as I think I can crank up with FS running, a bunch of secondary windows on a second monitor, FSNAV on a third, FSMETEO running, my MB/Case temperature is in the mid 30's C, CPU is in the mid 40's C, and GPU temperature is in the mid 50's C. I really don't think it is a temperature issue. There are other times rather than the above happening, identifying some gauges changes the readings of others. For example when I highlighted some gauge, my real altimiter reading of 6,500 feet jumped up to an unreal 23,000 feet. Some other gauges also tick to a different reading. Move the mouse curser off of the identified gauge, everything is back to normal. This works in reverse as well. For example if with the main panel displayed, and I open the throttle panel. Before I unlock and move it if I move my curser over the throttle panel, a portion of the main panel may wipe out the bottom half of it.There are other periods when everything is normal and there is no issue (Not just at the start, but later with all temps. steady as a rock as indicated above). This is not something one might not be able to live with as simply moving the mouse curser to a neutral location solves the problem, but it is a nusience. It also happens both in FS9 and FSX and is not specific to any aircraft (happens with defaults too). I see no problem with any other program, although I am not into other games.Identification and/or a solution to this issue sure would be appreciated. Thanks:RTH
January 11, 200719 yr Commercial Member Don't worry, you're not alone with this problem. I'd been seeing the same thing but as I've had little time actually using FS of late, I assumed it was something to do with the mouse and was just going to replace it. Doesn't look like a temp or driver issue as I had it from day 1 of building a new PC.However, I've now seen quite a few threads on this and it seems to be a known nVidia issue with the only workarounds being to turn off tooltips, start FS and don't switch to any other programs or once it starts to happen, change the AA settings in FS i.e. turn them off and then back on again.Greatest Airliners - DC-8Greatest Airliners - 727 Whisperjethttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...BANNER_PAUL.jpg Cheers Paul Golding
January 11, 200719 yr Author Hello Paul, always great to hear from your kind input. No biggy, but it is a bit of a nuisance.I hope I made it clear that this is not anything unique to your beautiful bird. Hopefully soon, FSX will be the cat's whiskers, but for now, flying the DF727 or the like with great third party scenery in FS9 is still my personal preference. (Come on guys! I am not flameing FSX and am still doing my best to give it a fair shake!). I highly suspect that any frustration felt by we the users is probably not near what Paul and many more are going through that work so hard to supply us with the development of such quality addons. Thanks once again for your fine contribution.RTH
January 13, 200719 yr I also have something rather similar to what you describe. I have an eVGA 7900 GTO card with 91.47 drivers and dual monitors--shortly to be Triplehead three!--and I have this issue solely with the PMDG 747-400 model and only when the LCD screen resolution is set to 2560x1024. All other res produce normal pix and normal functionality. It's most bizarre. It is seemingly random too. If I select the PMDG 744 or if I open up a saved PMDG flight, I get a blank lower half screen at times and when I am in the VC, if I click the MCP, sometimes the lower half of the screen blanks out or shows a 2D popup like the FMC or the thrust pedestal.I figured it is not a temp issue--my temps are low 50s or high 40s--and since it only occurs with the PMDG 744 and in a specific res, I thought it has to do with the drivers but I am blowed if I can really figure it out.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.

January 14, 200719 yr Bob:I did as you suggested, but no luck. Then, I decided to uncheck TRILINEAR filtering and check BILINEAR instead and it seems to have "cured" this weird behavior. Now all appears to be normal and load normally. (Fingers crossed!)I never really understood what either of these filters do/did anyway. Thanks for your prompt in any event, it helped me experiment a little further. The things we do for FS.....!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
January 16, 200719 yr Author Hello Bobby:I tried every combination I can think of, and I think all it does is bait me. I think I have found it, and about the time I relax, it comes back and laughs at me.Not too important a feature anyway to me. I just did like Paul said and turned tooltips off. No sign of the problem then.Good luck:RTH
