Memory question (non FS specific)

Featured Replies

My new rig is reporting 2GB of physical memory (the correct amount) in the Task Manager, but only 1GB under System Properties in My Computer. Does one trump the other? I was throwing some suspicion on the Abit AB9 Pro mobo, as I got a series of reboots. That got fixed, then Windows started hurling after the machine posted, with indications of a memory error. (Abit's forums crashed, so that's why I'm here.) I know I'll run memtest on the modules tonight, but wanted to know if the disparity in the amount of memory reported is an absolute problem or not.'Thanks!

That first title was a pretty poor way to indicate that I'm looking for a response to make sure I get the best FSX performance. After all, that's what I built the box for!

Run MemTest...it will tell you if the RAM has errors in ithttp://www.majorgeeks.com/MemTest_d350.htmlI've never heard of that problem before myselfWhen I had RAM go bad my PC would reboot over and overCould you swap sticks, or run with each one separately and see if windows vs. task manager reads them correctly?
