March 6, 200719 yr Does Vista ship with 9 or 10 version of Direct X? I'm really not sure. I just got Vista yesterday (Sunday) and had one heck of a time with drivers and various other little quirks.I tried FSX for the first time today with the NVidia beta drivers for Vista and when first loading the program, it said that Direct X didn't initialize or something. It took many minutes for FSX to finally load, and it was definitely slower than with XP, but I have some tweaking to do.I probably should do a good defragging tonight after all the driver downloads and other things I did yesterday.Just would like some advice on new Vista users and what I must initially check to make sure everything's going in the right direction with FSX. Thanks.
March 6, 200719 yr Both 9.c and 10.DXDiag should tell you this. ex-Aces Lead PM, FSX SP1 and SP2 ex-Intel LRB native title enablement, ex Intel Gaming and Graphics Samples PM now Graphics and Multicore PM in Visual Computing Software Enabling.
March 6, 200719 yr Stan-I hope you got it up and running-I am really enjoying it (once I turned off all those annoying security prompts). You can set as a desktop background any video-I have a few flight ones of some favorite flights I have taken-if you want to take a shot let me know!Best,http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
March 7, 200719 yr Author Geofa,Yes. it's up and running with a few less frames. I asked question on the FSX forum regarding whether I should reinstall FSX or not. Check out the thread. Let's see what forum people say about this.
March 7, 200719 yr Are you running nvidia or ati? If using nvidia I found using the latest beta drivers-going to the nvidia control panel-then selecting the preset for fsx gave me great looks and better performance. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
March 7, 200719 yr Author Got NVidia Dual 7950's...see my signature for my spects. I did get the latest Betas. I hope they soon come out with approved drivers above and beyond these. I didn't, though, check the FSX preset. I'll do that now. Thanks, Geofa.
