Update to Power supply issue

Featured Replies

I received this advice from Apevia in the event anyone would be interested. This is a way for me to test if my PSU or MoBo got fried during a condesation problem."You can test to see if the psu is still functional by jumping pins 13/14 on the 20-pin ATX connector. You can duplicate the process using a bent paperclip rather than the toggle switch.http://www.gideontech.com/content/articles/196/1 Finding out if the motherboard has caused the problem is much trickier and we be better answered by the mobo manufacturer. Thanks GregApevia"

Are the pin-outs the same on all power supplies?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case

Good question. I dont know but the test idea should work for most/all PSU, would just need to contact the power supplier first and double check. I did the test and found it was my PSU so I've ordered a replacement one. Hopefully thats the only damage that was done and I'll be up and running before the SP1 patch.

Rhett: It appears to me they'd have to be....otherwise you'd need a specificpower supply for each MOBO, if ya get my drift. The spec ATX...or whatever should all be the same.
