March 22, 200719 yr Hi All,I'm planning a system update, and have decided on an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Processor. I'm now looking for recommendations for a good motherboard. My case is an ATX form, I will be using an PCI Express graphics card, probably a Geforce 7600GS w/512 mb, but I want the ability to upgrade to an 8800 at a later date. I use at least 7 USB ports, and will start with a single SATA drive, but may add additional drives later.Which chipset? Will the P965 be a good matchup? I don't plan on overclocking, but if I install FSX, I may need the ability to do so. The only high-performance program I run is flight simulator,Thanks for any advice,Dale Dale
March 24, 200719 yr I've built two systems now with the DFI Infinity 975X/G and both have been running perfectly. I haven't attempted to overclock yet, but I do plan to, and have heard that it overclocks well. The price has gone up by $10 since January and now sells for $165.The other components in the systems are2 Kingston HyperX 800 MHz 1GB chips (board defaults to 667MHz, but you can easily change it to 800 MHz through the BIOS)8800 GTSE6600Antec TP3-650 650W PSUZalman 9700WD 150GB 10K HDMake sure to choose a recommended RAM. It needs to have a voltage of 2.0 or less. I've seen people claim, with this motherboard and others, that they couldn't get even some of the most popular Ram to work. I think in every case it was because the required voltage was too high.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
