This is going to be quite difficult to explain so forgive me ifI make a hash of it.Before I had to format my drive and re-install everything I usedto be able to active a predefined set of views using active cameraby just clicking on options/active camera and the directory windowwould come up in my full screen simulator window, where I wouldselect the predefined views for the aircraft I was virtually flying.Since the re-install and re-activation of Active Camera I'm not ableto do this. What I have to do now is to press alt+enter to get meinto windowed mode and then select the view I require.If I try to do it the way I used to do it as per para one above Ijust get a quick glimpse of the directory window as it comes upand the screen goes completly black. I then have to do what I saidin the second paragraph with the alt+enter keys.This would not be so bad, if that was it, but alas it's not asquite a good percentage of time the flight sim window which isnow in windowed mode stays black, however by pressing alt I canget at the top menu bar and close the simulator.I thought that maybe it was a video driver issue and I updated mydriver, but still have the problem. I did a complete clean out ofthe driver using driver cleaner pro and cclean.So has anyone had this problem and found a way to cure it or hasanyone any idea's on what to try next?I would be grateful for any help with this...thanksCatmarP.S was not sure if the is a software or hardware problem so if youwanna move it to another forum be my guest.

Hi catmar, I suspect this is happening due to the fact that your AA is turned up higher and you use an Nvidia card. Is your aircraft selection screen black as well? If so, AA has to be set below 8X, or in my case 4X as I don't have 6X as an option. Try this a I'm sure you will see it gets rid of the problem, however lower AA rate looks horrible to me, so I use the Alt/Enter. This will most likely never be corrected by Nvidia as it has been going on for a long time now. I hope this helped.

Hi Jeff,Thanks for the reply, didn't realize this was a Nvidia onlyproblem and that it had been a long standing one.I already have AA set to 4X, also AF is set to 4X so thatis not the answer for me.No the Aircraft selection window is fine.What bugs me is that I never had this problem with my previousinstall, only since re-formating and starting from a clean installof the flightsim.Maybe I can turn AA off and see what happens?Anyway thanks for your input, if turning off AA makes it betterI'll let you know.Catmar

Hi catmar, very strange you are getting this with the AA set at 4X. When I read your post, it reminded me of the problems I've encountered when AA was set higher. The kneeboard for instance, when poped up in VC would show, but the entire lower half of my screen was black as long as AA was set higher than 4X. Maybe its a driver problem? What version drivers are you using? If you should decide to try new ones, I highly recommend Driver cleaner Pro. It is freeware and will ensure that any and all remnance of older drivers are gone before reinstalling new ones to ensure no problems. If you do go this route, be aware that you must take extreme caution when using this software, as if you are not careful, you could uninstall MB drivers and such by mistake. You may already have experience with this, however if you do need any further assistance, just let me know and I will help out anyway I can. Keep us posted.

Hi again Jeff,Yes it's very strange. I have no problems with the kneeboard itcomes up correctly, however to qualify that I use the LDS767kneeboard but I believe that would not make any difference tothe behaviour of the original one.The display driver I'm using is the Forceware 81.85 WHQL and Idid use Driver Cleaner Pro to clear out the old driver. It maynot be a driver issue as I had the same problem with the olddriver which is the reason I change to the 81.85.Would you characterize this problem as a focus problem? I'm notsure, but I used tweakui yesterday to stop other windows stealingfocus and things seem a little better, what I mean by that is thatthe screen does not remain black but returns my picture after afew seconds, where as before I had to re-start.Something has changed and I don't know what that something is?As I described earlier everything worked fine before I had to dothe re-install, and before that re-install I had been using theolder video driver with absolutely no problems.Active Cam windows would come up properly within the sim which wasrunning in full screen mode and I could then make my choice fromthe active cam screen, it was solid, then after I had to re-installthings are not so good.I will look to see if my motherboard drivers are okay as you pointedout.
